I know that there are "spy" type devices people can use that will allow them to follow you one tp jump to your next destination. But I believe I read that they can only follow one jump, not continuously following you.
How do they work? How is someone able to follow you to your next destination without your knowledge or assistance?

I believe a particular LSL function, used on an avatar's UUID, will return their position even after a teleport. It's a bit of a hack, and was never intended for that purpose. It's down as "Critical" & "Fix pending" on Jira.
If you are worried about being stalked, a couple of back-to-back TPs or relogging in a new sim will defeat it.

i believe LL have used it to there advantage in the latest update, i'v not see it yet, but this is from the blog as one of the "other changes" to the New Release Candidate Viewer: 1.19.0
Add “Teleporting from SLURL to SLURL” to the chat history to provide quick and dirty “back” links
personally i like the idea... of a "back botton"...not of stalkers

From: Princess Ivory How do they work? How is someone able to follow you to your next destination without your knowledge or assistance? A few versions ago a new scripting call was added (llGetObjectDetails), which would allow a script (among other things) to simply ask the location of a specific avie or thing in a sim. After the avie tp'ed, this call returned a bunch of coordinates (or more precise a result which could be turned into the coords.) of the new location though. Is it repeatable? Well yes and no. If you tp to a new location, and tp out again, before the person tracking you can follow you and 'rescan', you escaped. If you take too long, and the person could scan again, then no. That's a system not related to the 'tp follower'. It simply adds your start and end locations of a tp to chat in 'url' format (slurls), as you can click in chat on urls to open them, they open, go to browser, get redirected back to SL and open map to previous location. (Yeah... kind of dirty)

From: Damanios Thetan A few versions ago a new scripting call was added (llGetObjectDetails), which would allow a script (among other things) to simply ask the location of a specific avie or thing in a sim. Yup. LL regards this usage of llGetObjectDetails as a bug, and has developed a not-yet-released fix for it. Using this call to track AVs was an undesired side effect of this new command. When the fix is released, the gadgets that exploit this side effect will no longer work. .
