i have tried closing the search and opening someone elses profile but it doesnt work...

Don't have the "automatically load web pages" thingy checked. Embedded music normally stops once the web page is closed, but if it doesn't... try and find out what program on your computer is being used to play that music. Most times it's windows media player, but could be a few others too. That way if it keeps playing once you close a profile, you can ctrl-alt-del, go into task manager and 'end task' on that program to kill it.

I have always wondered what made profiles have music and how to turn them off other then turn off sound.
Sometimes its okay, sometimes its not.

I have had this annoyance occur and not been able to tell where the music comes from.

It stops when you close SL.

The web tab is viewed with the mozilla browser. There should be some mozilla related way to stop this.

Had the same thing happen to me just the other day - turning down the volume on SL didn't fix it... it was a Youtube video, and I couldn't click on the stop button in the web site either.

I didn't want to exit SL so I had to wait like 5 minutes for it to stopy playing.

I since unchecked the auto-load feature.

It drives me crazy too. Only way I've found to stop it is by logging off. I had to turn off loading webpages automatically also, which is disappointing but I was left with no option otherwise.

can try going to the Web tab and search for the music player aka source of the noise, usually its in a form of widget, should be able to stop it from there.

Just wait till they have html on a prim in world...

Serisouly. I turned this "feature" off the day it was implemented because of this kind of thing (or much worse) was just expected.

If LL is going to expose us to the wild web inside their "game" they need to filter content to a "safe" level. I really don't want to have to try to secure a built in browser and well you can't with no way of getting at it's settings :(
