Is there a way to lengthen the distance the camera moves, either something you do or some kind of gadget you can buy.

Aside from Increasing Draw Distance in Preferences and disabling camera constraints via the Client menu?

Jay, do the following:
1. Press ctrl-alt-D to bring up the debugging menus.
2. On the Client menu, check Disable Camera Constraints.
You can now move the camera as far as you want. Note that draw distance is still calculated from your avatar, not from the camera position, so don't expect to be able to fly the camera 5 sims away, and see all the stuff that's there. Also note that you may have to disable the constraints every time you relog. The setting does not always persist between sessions.

Since Ann had already mentioned disable camera constraits I added what I could in case that was useful to the OP.
Disable Camera Constraints is persistent now.
If you raise renderfarclip (same as draw distance except you can change it to anything your hardware can handle) you can indeed move your camera further.

From: Osprey Therian Since Ann had already mentioned disable camera constraits I added what I could in case that was useful to the OP. D'Oh! My bad. I didn't see she had said that. Not sure how I missed it. Sorry about that. I'll edit my post. From: Osprey Therian Disable Camera Constraints is persistent now. Really? It hasn't been for me. Maybe I should listen to that thing at the top of the splash screen, and update my viewer, hehehe. From: Osprey Therian If you raise renderfarclip (same as draw distance except you can change it to anything your hardware can handle) you can indeed move your camera further. The maximum range seems to be about 2.5 sims. No matter where you're standing in your current sim, the viewer doesn't seem to want to display objects that are past about the midpoint of the third sim away in any direction. I would assume this has to do with the way sims communicate with each other to decide what assets should get delivered to your viewer. The sim you're standing on probably has no idea what objects are on a sim located 4 regions away. But it probably does know what's on each of its neighbors, on its neighbors' neighbors, and at least part of what's on its neigbors' neighbors' neighbors. I could be wrong, but that would seem to make sense. That's been my experience, anyway. Anyone see different?

Windlight?

So related to this, I have a question - does the RenderFarClip thing work on the new Windlight client? They've changed so much stuff around in there, so I wonder... can anyone offer an answer?

That's all I've been using since it came out; I was playing with renderfarclip yesterday and it seemed ok.
