Are you allowed to log into your account (not to the site, but in the software) on multiple computers with different IP addresses? I will be visiting Maryland for a weekend, but will be on a different computer and obviously a different IP address but still would like to play... Is that possible?

It shouldn't be a problem at all. People do this all the time.

(All y'all, quit laughing. I can give serious answers sometimes. When I want.)

Caleb I don't see why not as long as you have your correct password. And of course the computer has SL downloaded. I know people who carry SL with them all the time via laptop. Now that is addiction!!!

Thanks guys. I for some reason thought I had read when I first got my account that you can't.

Again, thanks :)

The only problem I see with doing this is if you tried to log in from another PC while you were still logged in from your home one - maybe as a bot or some long-term camping thing. I expect that might raise a red flag somewhere..

I'll make sure that I'm logged off at home before I leave.

That is not even a problem. SL will just put up a popup that says "You have been logged off because you are trying to login from another location" or something to that nature.

I get this once in awhile when I am trying to upload a lossless texture with the uploader and am still logged in to SL.

I accidentally tried logging in with a 2nd client while I was already logged in. It automatically logs off your first client and it puts up a message on both clients saying that a 2nd computer is logging in with our account and that it is logging out your 1st computer.

Hi Caleb, welcome to the forums. :)

When you use the SL client on a computer that isn't your own (or that others use), make sure the "remember password" box is NOT checked on the login screen. If you leave that checked, any person using that computer can log in to your account and do anything they want... spend your money, harass people, even get you banned from SL.

Also, if you log in to the web site (including reading the forums), make sure you are logged out and the password cleared when you are done.

Have a nice trip. :)

Hey Caleb, a second computer's no problem..third..fourth..as many as you like..work just fine, and if the IP address is different, well that doesn't matter a hoot. I've got two and am currently liberating the third from the loft. Ava's advice is good and definately worth noting..especially if the puter doesn't belong to you.

The only problem I see is that if you use a computer other than your own it may not have the client software..I'm guessing you're already aware of this though..if not; download..assuming the owner's OK with that.

Enjoy Maryland..

Perre.. :)
