I just rented a place...nothing in it yet. Want to put a radio with unlimited stations in the house (thats been an issue in and of itself)....but I put a stand down...and 1 minute later its returned to me. Am I missing a fundamental point to placing objects in my condo? I'm allowed 174 prims by the way.

so confused...*scratches her head*

The land is set to auto-return other people's objects. You need to have the group tag on before rezzing things. That way, what you rez is set to the group and won't be auto-returned.

Did you get a group invite? Many places require group access before you can build, it sounds like autoreturn is on, which means if your objects aren't set to the group that owns the land they will be returned.

The radio tuner thing will likely be trickier. It needs to be owned by the land owner to change media channels - and if it's owned by a group, then the tuner needs to be deeded to the land. So you will definitely need some sort of assistance from your land owner. It can be done, but it's a drag - because once deeded, you can't add new stations or whatever. Talk to people and find out what works best for your type of scenario before spending money on one.

Excellent point, but I'd also add that some of the better radio tuners come in 2 parts for this very reason; one part with the controls/configuration notecards/most of the scripting magic, and a second part that just listens for commands from the first part and changes the media stream accordingly. This second part is the one that gets deeded, and normally doesn't need to be fussed with after that. So in the quest for your perfect radio, be aware that this can be a nice feature to watch for. :)

So wait...:( does this mean I just forked out $200L for a sweet stereo with a ton of stations...deeded it over to the property owner...and now it isn't mine to take (if) we leave the property?

Damn. :(

I have a new question....b/f has "plans"....property is on pg land. Luckily the place is in the sky on a tiny island. With no teleport access other than us two. Are we really "free" to do what we want in the house? (btw, I'm going to go look up the answer to this...but would appreciate any real takes on this). Thanks.

Oh, there's nothing that says the landlord can't return it to you when it's time to move on :)

I wouldn't worry, although this recent shakeup over adult content has some people understandably concerned. Have fun, is my advice!

If you deeded the radio, then it's now owned by the group that owns the land and you can't edit it or reposition it. But it can't be stolen from you by the landlord. The landlord can either leave it rezzed or return it to you when you leave, but he can't take it into his inventory as his own. Landlords do return such things.

Thanks Anti and Phil :) (and everyone)

I'm thinking the landlord is a pretty nice guy. Since he helped me a ton yesterday...and pretty much all my questions were newbie questions. ^.^"

Kinda curious about something else...the rental box outside is supposed to count down the prims I have left to use in the house right? Its still saying I've used 0 out of 174. (well..thats what it said when I logged out last night). Does it just take a certain amount of time to adjust?

That's something that I've no idea about - sorry.
