Apparently bulk permissions are coming to the viewer soon, if you can't wait, the the cool viewer already allows you to do it.

I've used this and it seems to work well, this saves a hell of a lot of time. Is anybody else using this viewer?

What's the hold up with LL incorporating this?

It's new with 1.23 and hasn't been mass-tested yet. Or so I thought. I read Chalice's list at SLU and apparently it's sneaking in with 1.22.

Just FYI, you can highlight multiple items in your Inventory now, right click/permissions, and do it that way. It's still per individual item, and not bulk, but at least you don't have to select/right click EACH item now.

except i havent had great luck using this method on prim-based items, plus the contents are unaffected. i have always had to rez it, set content perms, set prim perms, delete the copy in inv, then 'take' the object back into inventory.
i also suspect this method is what creates a 'full perm' item that becomes nomod/nocopy when rezzed.

*blinks* So, if I select a lot of inventory items, I can change perms via ONE screen? Man, for multi-part clothing designers, that's... WOOOTTTT!!!

What I would really like to see would be two modes:

1: Change next-user perms of all selected items, but do NOT change perms of contents of those items.

2: Change next-user perms of all selected items, AND change perms of contents of those items.

Either would be a godsend right now for my new texture imports, where at present I have to select the textures to change and then do three mouse clicks per texture to get them all to full-perms.

For things like furniture and other scripted items, there are plenty of cases where you want to leave the perms of the contents as they are - such as leaving a no-copy animation no-copy, to meet licensing requirements, or leaving a script no-mod to protect your source code. But I have done lots of builds where I would have LOVED to be able to select the enire 5000+ prim building, with 60+ doors, and be able to make sure ALL the door scripts and window scripts and other embedded scripts were full-perms prior to passing them on to the new owner, so they could back up and replace any missing bits when they inevitably have an accident and delete a door or a section of a building.

I wonder how many years it will be before this makes it to the official LL client... I tend not to use the third party clients, myself.

Here too, would be great if there was a content option

You can do that in the Imprudence viewer. I love it and it saves a ton of time.

Every version of bulk permissions I've used (from early attempts to the 1.23 I'm using now) had the ability to set the perms of contents as well as for the item itself. It's all determined by which inventory types you choose before applying the perms. :)

Not if you use the officall LL client. The ability only exists in one or more of the third-party clients, so far.

I have an early, early version of the official 1.23, they start showing up in that version.
