Playing Your favourite music

Hello all,

I have some questiosn regarding music. Basically I'd like to play my songs from RL in SL.

I've been seeing that some people used some kind of cd player or similar in-world gadget which actually stores and plays your favorite songs.

Would anyone be kind enough to tell me how can I do the same?
Which gadget/ cd player would you recommend? ( I just want to put it on when sitting down with fellow SL residents, not some events)

Please let me know if I got it wrongly i.e. its not possible to play my songs from RL in SL and the only way to do it is to buy the music in-world and put it in the gadget or smth.

I know nothing about gadgets but you can use winamp to stream your own music inworld, for that yoou need winamp, the proper plug-in, and a stream that you can rent inworld.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking but if I understand you correctly I think you can only do that on your own land or rental place if it takes a url. Your landlord may be able to point you to some urls you can put in your own place. At least that's what happened in my experience.

One person I talked to said they can play Pandora while they are on SL. That didn't work for me. Pandora crashed and wouldn't play while I was on SL.

If you don't like the music that's being played, simply listen to your music on your CD player as an option or ask a DJ how to stream what you want to hear. I'd think a DJ would be able to answer some of your questions, but I think you might need your own land or be a DJ?

Well i currently *sell* a wide variety of instruments (including portable players) that can store a full length music into it, some scripts are then used to have it concretly working (playing) indworld.
You may find also a serie of *free* gadgets (and scripts) that may do the same, what i sell just includes some more advanced features (in scripting) and a nice modeling for a value added costs, but the principle is the same: they are 10 seconds sounds (the max lenght supported by SL of inworld sounds) plaied one each the other to compose a "full length" song.

I'll try to put this simply.... Play your *OWN* music to yourself using media player or similar on your PC.

Those damn things you describe play music to everyone else around you. Give me a blingtard anyday over those.

Naa, they are quite fun if used with moderation (i know, it's not someway easy to teach ppl about elementary "netiquette", in example ive built a walkman that can be use to play inworld music and interact with other ppl wearing the same product to "dance together" (not a big thing... u'll find several similar gadgets), but it's damn fun in certain moments to listen at those 80's music hits and dance with others (yeah.. someway "stupid" but fun!) .. gH!

teh gadjets are attachments that play "sound" and can be music ... I have a few myself. I do not know how tehy do it though as a normal mp3 is way beyond what you can upload.. so Im assuming its a web direction to a hosted file.?
