Over the course of the last few days, I've gone to one of the bigger sanboxes...(it was either Cordova or Goguen)...and both times I found myself in a rather disturbing situation; the first time, I found myself surrounded by rotating cubes on all sides, blocking vision on all sides. The second time, I arrived at precisely the same location, and found myself surrounded by big wood-textured cubes scattered everywhere......aren't those sort of shennanigans frowned on:confused:? Is there anything I could have done to get clear of the obstructions? I know I can build on my property, but a couple of the projects I have in mind may require a few more prims than my humble holdings can sustain without the hassle of derezzing the house, ergo the sandbox. Any advice (and offers to join sandbox groups...? Contrary to popular belief, I can be reasonably polite and am quasi-housetrained) would be appreciated.

That happen to me few times. Its either griefers or some obnoxious person who doesn't care that they are building in tp location.
I usually tp out and go somewhere else or you could use the world map and go somewhere else on it.
But if you use the same sand box they just do something else if they see you.
I don't know anything about other sandbox groups or what are the best sand boxes because its been a while sense I had to deal with that.

Just build up in the sky when you go there. Rez a cube, sit on it, edit the z to 600, press esc so your camera points at you again, then start building from there.

All the major sandboxes that I know of (ones that are entire sims) always have people who build on the tp zone. Its like a shiny quarter to them that calls on them to toss their random prims on that spot and annoy others.

The rotating prims is the least of your worries...I have ventured in their when my usual building zone (Theta or Pi) was down and got mobbed by those multi legged following things.

This is why I never use the public sandboxes any more.

AR those and then go to around 400 to 600m up. Some types of followers can't handle the z-axis.. for example, those screaming Spongebob boxes

I have a workspace rezzer that you just drag to the ground and sit on and it whisks you up to whatever height is in the description, and puts down a floor using whatever object is in its inventory (normally a white 20x20 platform, but you can put whatever you want in there).

I'll send you one next time I'm ingame.

They're very handy. Not only do you avoid lots of grief; lag is lower because there is less stuff in view, and nobody jabbering away.

I only use smaller sandboxes. Many fewer griefers there.

Drop by Crystal Gadgets, which has a free work cube rezzer, similar to what Lear is describing. They also have all kinds of other free handy widgets. I think they may have dropped the price on the Prim Finder, which is a fun tool/learning device.

Usually I use the workspace rezzer in Mystitool -- it's a good thing to wear when in public sandboxes anyway ... just about the only time I use it actually. It rezzes a fun multiseat little elevator that gives you a menu when you touch it to change your workspace - different floor textures, walls/railings or none, etc.. So you can take your friends to build with you, lol!

Those are the ones by abbot's areodome, right? Those are a hotbed for griefer attacks. I would find either a smaller sandbox or find a friend who will let you build on their land.

*enter shameless plug* TUi has a free public sandbox that is friendly and griefer free. There is always people and or teachers around if you need help. You could also stay for a class to, lots of stuff going on. I have it in my picks or I can send you a landmark when I get in-world later. *end shameless plug* lol

Both the rotaqting cubes and the plywood cubes are standard griefer attacks on public sandboxes. Find the owners and AR them. LL wants to know about these attacks because they don't like their sims being crashed.

Both types are by design heavy drains on the sim servers - the cubes are physics enabled, which is a resource hog, and the rotating cubes do the same. The sooner the Lindens get enough ARs to know they have a problem, the better for everybody but the griefers.

I use a sandbox that denies 'no payment info on file' residents. It's drama free, but a little crowded cos everyone wants to build at the same height :P
