How do you find out when special events occur?

The past two days I explored the Skin Fair. I'm saw everything and (in spite of the lag) I was very glad to have gone.
The thing is, I only heard about it by accident. Then I had trouble finding it. I searched this forum. I searched inworld under Events. I looked at the blogs. No joy.
It turned out I had to search for "skinfair" instead of "skin fair".
Which is all fine... I'm not complaining.
What I want to know is, how do you hear about events like these? Where are they announced?

The general answer would be to join groups (either real "Groups" or messaging lists that don't take up one of the precious 25 group slots) from merchants of the kinds of products in which you're interested, or other social groups for events other than merchandising--*and* to read blogs relevant to those interests.
(For the specific case of the skinfair, you've got me. I had no idea it was happening, so obviously I don't belong to the right groups nor read the right blogs.)

Short answer: There is no way. You are lucky if you see something. If LL wanted to be of use they could start no appeal banning everyone abusing the event system.

I stumble on them by accident. I only found out that there was another Make Him Over Hunt going on when I came across a store with a sign. I usually find out about special events after they take place, and that's because someone forgot to pick up the sign.

Hell, *I* even knew there was a Skin Fair going on. Pep (Well, it was because Lexxi was complaining in Cartel Group chat that SL was being mean and not letting her in to it, actually  )
