So your final Nimbus Score is 8.15, a quite remarkable achievement for a biped. Congratulations Crunch, you should be very proud. ![]() |

They obviously couldn't use the standard XMPP protocol like decent people (say, Google) do and had to invent yet another proprietary messenger for people to run concurrently with a zillion other ones.
Argh, when will this bloody end! ![]() |

Good Grief! Thank goodness I started reading the forums again. Where do you all come up with finding all this stuff? I would be totally clueless...okay...more than I am now
...if it weren't for the forums. Thanks! |

XMPP concurrance might not be nessasary for an app with such a specific clientelle. _____________________

I dunno. I doubt seriously they'd be looking to release an IM that anyone can use to communicate with anyone else, regardless of being an SL resident. You don't seem to be aware how XMPP works. Basically, it's very much like email, once you have an email address, you can communicate with anyone else who has an email address, but, nobody explicitly owns the network, and everyone who wishes to provide access to the network puts up their own server, which doesn't allow "anyone" to communicate to "anyone" -- only to "anyone" to communicate to the users of that one server. So using XMPP would allow both Google Talk users and numerous individual Jabber server users to communicate to any SL resident and back, SL would only provide access to the residents but not to anyone else, there would be a wealth of clients available for any conceivable platform, and I wouldn't end up with one more network to keep track of again... |
