I recently (and accidentally) dragged a clothing item from my inventory to the floor of my home space. It was not an attachment, but an actual clothing library item (jacket). It vanished from both my inventory list and in-world. Is there a way I can find it? Or, is it gone forever? Any help would be appreciated.

edit the floor and see if it is in there (if you need help, just send me an im, I have helped ppl find stuff like that many times)
That is why I never drag folders, I always right click and add to outfit, or replace if I want to wear it all (such as for a full avatar)

Try using Wireframe to find your missing item. It might take a little camera work to get your cursor on the missing item in order to Take it. I've fished jewelry out of my avatar's body using this method.
I think it is in Client > Rendering > Wireframe .

that will not work with clothing (system type clothes, non prim) they can not be laid on the ground like other stuff
in this case it will be inside the prim (so just edit the floor, right click go into edit mode, and it should be right in there, then drag over to your inventory)

Thanks for your help, all. It was a stupid mistake. I thought I was grabbing an attachment for the outfit (jacket skirt) in order to make some prim adjustments. The jacket item was right above it in the inventory list. Unfortunately, I was doing a bit too much chatting with islanders while I was trying to work. I did find the item in the floor prim as suggested. Time for me to go hermit when I work...
