Last night I was putting together a picture for a friend, got distracted and proceeded to attach her photo to pretty much half my house!!! Lol
I didnt think there was a undo button, so I had to apply other textures to get the previous look back. Needless to say....it's crap!
So, is there a way to copy a texture from the unaffected house parts and reapply it? Or should I just Im the builder of this model and let him suss it out?

Thanks!!

Ouch.

That's a big boo-boo.

If you don't have the texture, you can't use the eye-dropper tool. So, what's done is done.

You'll have to talk to the creator, and get the textures from them, or see if they will come over out of the kindness of their heart (or you wallet) to re-texture your bits and bobs.

There is a way to get the UUID of the texture with a script, then use scripts to apply the texture to the other prims. It's a bit complicated, but if you know scripting it can be done.

It might be easier though to contact the creator and see if they can help.

Unless you know a trick that I don't (in which case we probably shouldn't discuss it here), llGetTexture() and llGetPrimitiveParams() should return NULL_KEY in any object for which the owner doesn't have full perms. So if that's true, unless it was a full-perm house, this wouldn't work. (It does mean, however, that releasing an object full-perm is releasing all textures in that object, too--at least for scripted use.) Of course, not meaning to raise a whole IP panic here, but there are other ways of getting texture keys, but not... well... not by script, AFAIK.

LOL. Hi World!

I did pretty much the same thing with the first house I bought. I'm not sure how I did it, but I messed up a texture on the deck! :( I told the creator what I did and asked if they could fix it or let me buy the texture to try to fix it myself.
What I received was a whole new house! :) Thumbs up to creators that go above and beyond. :D Because of the type of house that it was, I was able to put the two houses and decks together to double my space!

Ah -- I did not know that. I thought you only had to have mod perms to get the UUID.

My mistate!

lol, my hubby did the same thing. I logged in to find my beautiful birch tree "retextured". Now he has been banned to the platform or prim land when he builds.

Thanks for your replies!!

Always very helpful here....
I can just rerez the house over, but I have so much furniture and stuff set up now that it would be a bit of a pain.
Looks like an Im is in order! LOL
Next time I will stay away from the house when messing about!

Well, if the house is grouped...then you just have to place it exactly where it was before, and you are set...no pain at all. A good way to do this is find a reference object, one which you know exactly where it was...and move the house it position relative to that. Then double check the rest of the items...

Indeed, that is the way I go when I place a bigger shop. Just delete the old one and place the bigger one just where the old one was, since the shop front always remains the same. There always is a reference point like a painting or so :-)

I was pretty new and did not think to tip him. :o

But I did go back and buy more stuff because of his great SL (tm) attitude! :D

I think everyone has done this at least once. I used to fall asleep with my finger on the mouse button and painted the whole lower half of my house including windows and doors and carpets in pale green floral chintz.

I also once deleted the lower half, and left my partner and me naked in the middle of the lawn... but we don't talk about that.....

imogen

it was snowing too... he wasn't pleased

decided the quickest way was to just rerez the entire house (3 floors all linked seperate)..

set up 3 cones at the old house front and gave it a go! after 2 unsucsessfull attempts, a few swear words, and two advils, I was able to get it back correct!
only had to adjust 1 picture on the wall.

Now lets see what else I can mess up!

Cheers everyone!!!

It's good to use "lock" if you build at home.
