Can't get my video to work. It suddenly stopped. It worked well until a couple of days ago and others can see and hear what's on the screen. The video button shows but can't be pressed. Don't remember altering anything. Can anyone help please?

I have the latest version of Quicktime - 7.4. Checked on the updater and all there is on there to be updated is Safari - which I don't use. Also, Video is enabled in prefences, so it's not that.

The strange thing is, I have an old viewer - Second Life 1.18.5 (3) Nov 28 2007 and when i use this to enter SL, the video works perfectly well on there.

When I downloaded the most recent Windlight client I got a pop-up telling me that I needed to update Quicktime so it was disabling streaming video (even thought the old client seemed to work fine). Did you download a new client? Maybe it changed your prefrences and you have to manually switch it back on?

I've had this happen before and got it working again by emptying the QuickTime cache (from the Advanced tab of the QuickTime control panel). [Edit: just noticed the "Safari" reference; my experience was on XP, so YMMV.]

Hi. Thanks for the replies. I tried emptying the QT cache and that didn't work. Preferences haven't changed. I have also ticked and unticked the options. I have stopped the firewall temporarily to see if that had an effect and also temporarily removed Spyware Terminator. It still doesn't work :(

The latest version of Quicktime is now 7.4.1. Would be worth a shot to upload again.

I know that, with Windlight at least, the client requires a current version of Quicktime. It could be that 7.4.1 is now required. Worth updating again even if that is not the problem.

According to the JIRA comments version 7.4.1 is the new required minimum... if that doesnt work try a reinstall of QT.

Hi. I uninstalled QT which I didn't realise meant having to reinstall Itunes too. Didn't work at first but now videos are showing. Result. TY. :)

I guess it's possible that quicktime alternative for 7.4.1 might install on w2k even though regular qt 7.4.1 won't.

Not likely but worth trying.
