Get a flight feather or other flight assisting device from NCI or any one of the freebie places and fly up there.

even easier, and faster, you can rez a box, sit on it and THEN make it go up to the height you want.

do not stand or you will fall.

find the avatar in search, and drag the object into their little rectangular box near the bottom of their profile (you can't be wearing it when transferring).

i wish i had a picture of the place i mean in the profile, but there is only one rectangular space, much like the title area above the reply box here.

you are basically phantom, as is the prim, in that case? sitting melds you together as one unit? (oh... i don't know really. someone with a physics {or C+} degree ought to be along shortly to give us the technical breakdown).

Hi Trolane and welcome to SL. :)

I can't tell you how many times I have done something similar and "lost" things I've rezd at unknown co-ordinates!

Basically you need some sort of flight assist to fly higher than about 200 metres in SL and the flight feather that you can wear is a simple flight assist script. The free Mystitool HUD also has a flight assist option and there are many different flight packs with all sorts of options - some of which can take you at jet speed. I once tried to see how high I could fly and never reached a limit - gave up after several minutes when I got bored.

If you use the rez a box, sit on it and edit the x, y, z, co-ordinates to get you to where you think you left your sky box - remember to focus your camera on yourself before you edit the prim you are sitting on. I forgot that once and just disappeared from my screen! Couldn't find myself - let alone the lost objects! I had to stand up to get the camera back on my avatar - and of course I fell off the box, even though I had stretched it out a bit into a little raft. So I tried again.... I ended up with quite a bit of prim litter to clear up before I realised what I was doing wrong.

I did get a wonderful view on my screen, as I fell backwards out of a bright SL sky, of my sky box disappearing into the distance. I just wish I'd been quick enough to click the snapshot button now.

Is there any limit to how high a skybox can be placed? For instance, TP limitations or anything like that?

scripting limitations occur over 700 meters, therefore the max height for a sky boxes is probably about 650-675 meters

Omigosh--I have accidently fallen off high objects so many times. This made me laugh so hard tears were coming out of my eyes.

All you have to do is click Esc once or twice and your camera will centre itself on your av again.
