I'm pretty sure I read this on the forums somewhere before, but want to make sure I'm right. Is it correct that if I click on my house, bring up the edit box and then click on every object in my house and the "take", they will be taken as a coalesced bundle? Then, if I want to re-rezz it all together and position it all together, I just re-rezz the coalesced bundle while in edit mode? I want to completely redo my land for winter and Christmas, but will want to go back to my current setup after X-mas or in the Spring, but to save time when I revert back to what I currently have I would love to be able to just re-rezz and reposition the house and contents all together.

That's exactly right edit: do this with caution (as in, not at all) if the grid is acting up, it would suck a lot to lose your house and all its contents in a single "failed to rez" incident

That's true. I think I would sit down and have a good cry in RL if that happened. Thanks so much for your help. I thought that was the case, but wanted to make sure before I did it and made some kind of terrible error.

Sunni, how much of your current home is no-copy? It might be better (and safer) to take your house into your inventory separately from the furnishings. Once in your inventory, pack the copiable items into a prim, make several copies of that prim and store them in safe places (such as one in your inventory and the others buried under your ground). As for the no-copy items you'll just have to trust to luck that they don't poof out of your inventory.

For a house I find it's easier to drag-select than it is to shift-click everything.
1. Disable camera constraints and make sure limit select distance is NOT selected (both of these are in the CTRL+ALT+D Client menu). (You might want to pick "select only my objects"- i think this is in the Tools menu? if there are other folks' things inside or nearby.) 2. Fly up over the house and cam down so that the entire house fits in your window and is not obstructed by HUDs or other windows. 3. Right-click any portion of the house to enter edit mode. 4. Click the ground in the upper-left of your screen and drag toward the lower-right so that you select the entire house and everything in it. 5. With everything still selected, right-click the house and click Take.
When I do this I IMMEDIATELY create a new descriptively-named folder to drag the coalesced bundle into, because it almost always has a non-helpful name just sitting there under Objects.
And remember, when you finally decide to rez the house, enter edit mode (either rez and edit a prim or edit the ground) and stay in edit while you rez the house. The entire bundle will be automatically selected for easy positioning. Otherwise you'll have to re-select everything in order to move/rotate.

Thank you so much everyone. This is all a big help. I'm really excited about decorating for Christmas, but was thinking ahead to all the re-setting up I'll have to do after the holidays. I like decorating, but it can be time consuming and I don't always have that time the way I wish I did. So, wanted to do this the most "economical" way possible.

I've been lucky so far in that I've only lost a flexi skirt to the Item is no longer in database bug. However, you never know when that luck could change.

If possible I think it's best to link as many parts as possible, including the furnishings, before selecting the whole lot to 'take'. I made all my own stuff so I can do that, I realise it's different with no-mod stuff. But there are problems. My sky-club is too big to link as a single object so it is in 4 linksets that are kept as one 'take' in my inventory. It will rez back in-world as a single structure, but if I want to move it after rezzing I have to check all the parts are still selected or else only one part is moved. That's why it's best to link prims so as to have the least number of sections! Also, I have found although the original one can be rezzed from inventory over and over with no problems, once in-world I can't select / take it any more. Don't know why.

Too many objects being linked can cause problems.. as so many other things can, and linking multiple prim scripted objects to the rest of the house will lead to problems, as you then have to relink them later and figure out the root prim that needs to be for the scripts to work right The best solution to taking something like a whole house is rez-faux... don't have to link scripted objects, and it rezzes perfectly. Downside is it costs L$, and is more time consuming than just selecting all 'your objects' within a certain box
