Hi Guys.. Having a little trouble and I need some help
I owned COVENANT land and had it deeded to my group. Before placing the land for sale, I kicked everyone out of the group but myself. I sign on and find my objects returned to me and figured it had sold. However, I had no more money than I had. I sold it for 15k. I contacted my land lord and he told me he did not kick me off the land and asked me if I had it deeded to a group. I told him I did, and he told me it takes longer to get my money if the land is deeded to a group. Is this true? I havent found anything like this anywhere. I had told my land lord that if it did not sell by the tier date I would abondon it and it would go back into his posession. Basically, I'm wondering if this is true. That it takes longer to get your money if you have it deeded to a group? He says i should have just had it in my name because it would have been instant. Ugh.. any help or direction would be appreciated.
Thanks! Krista

From: Krista Lawson I sold it yesterday.. does it just take 24 hours? Depends on what time "yesterday" is. You can view the money in your group by clicking the last tab in your group settings.

Group does mean more than one member participating. So if SL deleted your group with the funds attached to it, then you are likely going to need to contact customer service. I would give it till tomorrow morning about 7amPT to see if you get your funds. Then I'd be making some phone calls.

Groups will disappear if you kick everyone out bar yourself. There must be at least two people in a group.

Groups disappear if they have less than *three* members. I wish you luck in your attempt at recovery from LL, but based on similar experiences posted here, I'd assume the land sale proceeds are gone and your efforts will come to naught. Not that it should be that way, it just seems to too often. What you should have done is: as group officer, set the land to sale to yourself, buy the land from the group, then sell it as an individual. Isn't that so obvious?

Incidentally, this is one valid use for alt accounts - preventing your monied groups from going poof.

As I see this is a forum for HELP from other residents, and not made to make someone feel as if if they ask for help, they would be treated as they shouldve known already. "Isn't that so obvious?" Thats quite a rude statement. If it was so obvious, I'm sure Krista wouldn't be here right now asking for our help would she? Its an unfortunate enough incident as it is, that when someone come to ask for help..they dont need to be pointed out that things should be obvious to them. Alot of people are first time buyers, or sellers of land, and as a person who has sold numerous pieces of land, I can tell you, the learning curve of the ins and outs and little things you need to know about it is not an easy task. Unfortunately, things like this happen, but it should not be a way a person learns to buy or sell. I'm sorry this happened to you Krista, hopefully Lindens will be able to help you out. If not, dont think its "so obvious", selling land should be explained in much easier terms then it currently is. Good luck to you..I hope all works out

From: Blazin Aubret ... "Isn't that so obvious?" Thats quite a rude statement. ..... I actually took Malachi's comment as a sarcastic comment toward LL's way of making us do things -- being quite obscure and complicated at the best of times. Maybe that is just me always initially assuming that the forum people are not intentionally being rude to people with valid questions.

Thats quite a rude statement. FWIW I read this as irony, a comment on the not-so-obvious working of group land operations. (I was gonna mumble further about group land tier bonus and the associated dangers of pulling land back from group ownership, but I see the OP is dealing with Covenant land, so... never mind. )

To remove any doubt, "isn't that obvious" was indeed highly sarcastic and I mistakenly thought it obviously so; I'm sorry that anyone read it otherwise. And Ciaran's "two not three" is likely correct as my knowledge is somewhat dated.
Mea culpa.

Krista, I couldn't tell from the info you provided... are you sure the land actually sold? The reason I ask is that if it had not sold, it would have reverted back to the estate owner when your group was deleted. If that is the case, it is the same as if you abandoned the land, and there would be no money locked away in the deleted group. I checked the Knowledge Base and found the info below. If you DID have sales money in the group, it looks like it is permanently gone. (It did suggest contacting Support when you lost your group land... since they didn't suggest the same for lost funds, it would seem Support can't help with that.) From: SL Knowledge Base What happened to the group's L$?
Group funds are lost when a group is disbanded. Make sure that group members who expect to get L$ from the group have done so before everyone leaves.

I had a similar experience when I sold my mainland.. I got all the $ back after I had raised a support ticket. The reason given was that the L$ had "stuck" as there was only one group member - which lead to automatic group cancellation - at the same time I was selling the land. So give support a try
