This forum setup is Craptastic!

At first I was one of those silly people who really didn't mind the forum migration...but now I have to thoroughly express my gratitude for the fact that it is now pointless to spend money on advertising when no one gets a chance to see your products unless they are sitting and waiting for that lucky moment when they show on what is left of the XStreet site...and I also want to thank the heavens that such a wise collective of individuals was able to come to the conclusion that it would be much better for all of us if the feed only listed 1-2 asinine threads over and over again as people post in them...because that old way where each thread was only listed once with the most recent poster until you clicked...that was waaaayyy too bulky...and it also meant people might accidentally see it when you post about something like a new product or a sale or an event.
I'm just so glad to see all of that gone, so I can relax and know that I won't ever have to worry about the chance that I might have more money than I can spend. Thank you LL...you've done us all greay service.

i couldn't find a thread i was looking for on the flog if it was as thick as a ships anchor rope they are so scattered..bleh
i hope they put a forum up some day because that sure as hell isn't one no mater what they call the paint job they are sporting..it's articles on a blog and nothing more than that..

The drama queen soap operas pink allowed at the old place are simply carrying right on over. Which pretty much tells me what is really going on. I guess LL's execs need to take over control and just kill the commerce forums with fire now and be done with it.
Obviously only certain people are welcome there. I'm not one of them. Sad to see it turn out that way. Of course as soon as all the smart people leave they will want the self promotion features put back for themselves to use rofl.

I like my idea of taking all points, all counts, all dates, all status, all sigs, and even all names away and just have a paper bag over the head avatar pic for every post. That way only LL will know who posted what.

And why do I keep seeing home page views at xstreet on a certain product in blocks of exactly 50 a day one day every 2 weeks (I think) when I have purchased no such enhancements? I smell bots fudging web page view metrics.

Lol, that I did actually. About...a dozen...maybe more..slots below this one there is a thread for New products. It is as useless as nipples on a boar though, because with the way the new post feed is displayed on XStreet, it never gets shown...just a bunch of posts in the same thread about nonsense like..."Are you a Second Lifer?" (No offense to those who started or participated in that thread), instead of ever displaying anything useful like an event or new product.
The little product feed they show on the Dashboard is so tiny it might as well not even be there.

Vlad, this is not the forum you were being migrated to. This is the refugee camp waiting for the next shoe to fall.

Its nice to know that some things may improve...but it isn't just this blogorum setup itself...they /did/ take the time to change the way the feed to the XStreet website works, it seems, since it now seems to list all the most recent posts instead of threads most recently posted in....if that makes sense. Basically the end result is that we see 3-4 posts in a single thread running through the feed at once. This ends up shutting out a hefty weight in the merchants' advertising arsenals, because something as simple as a New Product (which doesn't get replied to) either never hits the feed or flies by so fast that people don't see it.


One solution I could think of that might make it a little bit batter, were if all the dead space on these blogurum pages was used to show XStreet items. I'd even be willing to pay for that service, since the ads on Xstreet proper aren't doing people as much good as they once did.

oh yea. sell that top participant's real estate. I'd buy it all up just to spite the people creating the current soap opera over inconsequential garbage that is doing nothing but exposing something about Pink.

You *did* see Rhonda's post? The one explaining that this is NOT the borum that the XStreetSL Forum was migrated to? This is another Forum that is soon to get the axe.

THAT is the place that the users of the former forums on XStreetSL are supposed to be posting. And, of course, loving it.

The usual xstreet schoolyard clique thugs are already working to take control and push out anyone them and Pink don't like so you can expect participation there to move in here.

I haven't seen anything, at least in the General Commerce forum, suggesting that you're not welcome. Is it in a different forum, or something in private?

I also haven't seen anything in the General Commerce forum that I'd call drama or soap operas. If you want to see soap operas, read some of the threads here that are more personal in nature, or some of the ones dealing with adult content or sexual ageplay.

You can also try to get there throght the menu choice "blogs" at the top of the page.

If you go to your dashboard (SL home page thingie) and hit Community > Blogs you will get there.

However, if you hit Community > Forums you wind up here because these are the forums, NOT the blogs.

Xstreet was migrated to the blogs. Thus all the weired names like blogrums and flogs. They are part of the blog pages now. This place is next but when is still unknown.

TIPS!!
When you are finally at the blogs the top menu above all the banner menu stuff has 2 things of use. First is "Your Stuff" where you can go in and change profile settings as well as look for your discussions (a.k.a. the threads you started)
Second is "Browse > Channels." This will give you a list that could almost be called a list of forums. If you remember that instead of Forums and Threads we now have Channels and Discussions on the blogs, it will help you trying to find your way around. I will also link the channels page below.

This is fine and the more the merrier. We would love to have the new people for as long as LL leaves the place turned on.

All the old stuff Vlad is looking for, like the advertised items, is on the the new dashboard. I am not trying to run him off, just point him to where those things are.

I happen to love my post count there.. ZERO.. I heard it's a whole new sign up process. I will just hang here till this is gone then Slapt and SLU will be my home.. I took Pink's hint.. and went on my merry way.

Thank you for all your hard work Rhonda. I was completely confused by Vlad's reply to my post above.

The new commerce forums are going well, as long as you don't want to search for, advertise or promote anything. Lindens are reading and posting fairly often. I've commented 'over there' that LL are trying to make sure the major issues are sorted out before these forums go too.

"OMG this isn't a forum" is getting pretty old so the threads are settling-down. Only one 'drama' I've seen so far.

Thanks for the help, I did find where you were pointing me...the problem is that there is no real difference. I mean...the pages "look" a little different, but its still the same posts in the same threads that are in this forum from what I can see.
(When I say forum I mean the collective mess of them that are listed on the forums page...which does seem to include those commerce forums you mentioned).

It does seem that there are ways you can filter the feeds you get, so you don't automatically receive updates from everything you've posted in...but from a merchant standpoint that is still a rather useless feature unless every single person knows this and decides to tune to the New Products/Events/Services/Sales feeds.

you have me beat by one..it took me an hour but i finally said hello in their introduction thread..
i almost ended up making a premium account and a few other things before i realized the sign up now was for making accounts instead of signing up for that blog..which i don't even understand if dashboard is so great then why do i have to log into the same webiste twice..

i went to Slapt right after that whole mess.. lol
