bad time to buy land (what with the adult-content policy pending) ?

I've been thinking of upgrading to premium, getting a small plot, and putting a little something on it.

But more than likely I'll want my plot adult-rated, so I'm wondering if I'd be better served holding off until this whole upcoming policy gets sorted out, the continent for it gets opened, and I can buy there...

Or if its fine buying now, and just getting zapped over to there when the time comes (unless the time to get that for free has already passed?)...

I'd buy a small plot and try and get the swap with it. It's cheap at the moment and Ursula will probably be expensive.

Mainland is really cheap and it's not clear what the prices will be on ursula - they could well be far, far higher than what mainland is now.

I would say yes, hold off. You don't want to buy Mature mainland and find out you can't do anything Mature on it. Also, you want to wait to see how the land in Pornsylvania gets doled out. They still haven't stated how they will do it, who will get to move for free, or even if people will be allowed to move. Some of the postings they have made indicate they will review eacch request and they will decide whether you go based on content. They haven't thought this out at all.

I agree. If history is any indicator, the land speculators will drive the prices of Pornsylvania through the roof, initially. If you have a chance of getting in on the swap, that is the way to go. Mainland is seriously cheap right now and if it turns out that you don't need "adult" rated land, you still win.

Just buy carefully, the one thing to remember with real estate is location, location, location. Choose your mainland parcel as if you plan to stay there for a long time.

I guess I'd ask what you exactly want to do with the plot. Using it for private, non-commercial adult activities without advertising, as long as you have tinted windows I believe will fall under Mature in the new guidelines.

If you're setting up an x-rated store, then the Adult content rule will apply. For most personal use, it should remain Mature. You're probably talking about less than $7 USD in reality, with no tier applicable for a 512m plot...You really don't have much to lose by going ahead if you can find the right land in private sale.

Its probably an over time thing.

At first I'd have a box in which I made things. Later I'd have a small shop selling them most likely. Eventually I'd put up a small clubhouse and some socializing spots.

It might not start with adult content, but it would more than likely have it at some point. It seems like, from reading comments above, my biggest concern in buying now is making sure I can force myself to get moved...
- which kind of means I'd need to start out as a spam portal with adds for anything I could get - not exactly what I desire... O.o

I figure it will take me time to design that clubhouse the way I want it to appeal to the kinds of people I desire, so I kind of just want a quiet plot for a while, and then have it grow out into the right thing once I'm ready.
- But the very last thing I want is to get stuck on the wrong continent and forced to sell my plot or have my content deleted on me...

My position is the opost. I won't begg to a Linden for a swap nor keep paying tiers to LL in the hope that they finally give what I've been paid them for the last 2 years.

I've sold my last piece of land today - tomorrrow I'll pay my last US$ to LL. If they cannot assure me that I receive what I paid, they don't deserve my money. In name of predictability, they turned SL in a completely unpredicable environment. What can we expect as the next move?

No, LL managed to loose completely my trust on them.

I am putting the right words in my ad, nudity etc, I am the same, just want to be able to do what I want, be it PG, Mature or Adult.

I don't think anything is guaranteed, but buying a small plot with the free tier or even a 512 tier isn't to much to loose while the land itself is so cheap.

where do u all think buying a 512 plot on mainland would be a good spot . lag free and all ? i hear location location..can someone give good locations? if one had a premium account and wanted to buy a little plot
