When I go into edit my appearance, the game allows me to edit everything except for my body shape. It's locked and says I don't have permission to edit this. How do I get permission to edit my own appearance?!

In your inventory, select any of the other body shapes that you have, and "wear" it, to replace the no-mod shape that you're wearing now.
Or on the Inventory's small selection of menus, select Create > New Body Parts > New Shape and wear that. You can then customize that as you wish.

How do I get permission to edit my own appearance?! you are wearing a shape that neither you nor Linden Labs created, and the creator has made it non-modifiable. you can put on your original LL shape and modify that though. don't forget to rename it and then save it when you're done! voila! you just made a shape you can sell!
