More information would be useful.

System specs for your computer such as what kind of processor, amount of ram, video card, etc..

Is the land deeded to a group?

Do you a prim with the media texture on it?

What instructions have you followed.

What version of SL are you using?

What url are you trying to watch?

Do you have the "Play streaming Media When Available" checked in Preferences / Audio & Video?

Can you see that url using a separate meda viewer like WinAmp or Windows Media or such?

Is it just me, or does anyone else think it a little crazy to come into Second Life to watch films and television?

No crazier than to "Buy Land" "Go Shopping"Dance" "Get Married" "Have Sex" or anything else you may wish to do here.

It might be a bit pointless to come to SL and watch a movie alone when you could be watching it fullscreen in a regular video viewer. If you're watching it with someone else then "what Brenda said".

Even if you are by yourself, you might still enjoy pretending to be your avatar, watching from your nice SL house, more than just watching the video in Winamp.

There have been some times when I was by myself in SL, happened across a movie, got engrossed in the movie, and was annoyed by having the movie not be quite square, not seen quite straight on. In that case I should have been watching the movie in Winamp, I guess.

But I wouldn't have come across that movie at that time unless I'd been milling around in SL.

I know people that watch movies and shows together in SL all the time.. it's like going on a date to them ^_^

For me, I've only watched tv in SL alone...and just cause I happened to find the three stooges on and was like "Awesome!"

The lower of the two options doesn't have itunes.

LOL! That was THE big draw for a friend of mine! I showed him a theater that was playing one of the Star Wars movies & he immediately signed up. :D
