Hi Tervel and welcome to the forum :)

A skybox is no more or less than a home that happens to be in the sky. You can buy prefab houses, or purpose-made skyboxes, and raise those into the sky, or you could build one.
How many you can have depends on the size of your land and its prim allowance. Each plot of land can hold a limited amount of prims. If I remember correctly, a single 512 m2 plot allows 117 prims.
I´ve seen quite a few low-prim homes and skyboxes around. When you look around for those, you have to take into account that your prim-allowance also includes any furniture you want to put in your home.
This also obviously limits the number of skyboxes you can have over any given amount of land.
As far as I know, and depending where your land is I suppose, you can´t build below your land.

Hope that makes sense.
:)

Hello Sally and thank you for the quick response :)
It was very helpfull for me and thank you :)
I want to try this building thing. For now I rent one skybox, and wonder if buying of 512 sqm will be more good choice for me :)

Tervel, you´re welcome :)

You don´t actually need land to try your hand at building. You can go to a public sandbox (search will find you these) and build there.
If you want to do this, my recommendations would be to a) not go to one at the top of the list b) check what type of sandbox it is (i.e. weapons-testing or not) and c) head into the sky to build.
The latter will help you steer clear of griefers and will also be less laggy.
You can build in the sky by rezzing a box, sitting on it and raising the box to the sky. Or use a platform rezzing gadget. This does require a sanbox where you can use scripts. It's essentially a box you click and sit on, which then automatically rezzes and platform in the sky. If you want one of those I can throw you one inworld later.

Hope that helps

:)

Actually, you just reminded me that there is an underground disco in the region next to us. No idea how that's done though.

Yes, give it to me :) And thanks for advices very much! :)
I am not builder - just wanted to rez house, furniture, something already available. I will try to make some other objects, like shirts, tattoos and other similar things. It's funny to try :)
But my dream is to make place where I can bring visitors for parties and to entertain. It's very expensive for me in this moment, but maybe in near future I will make this :)
And I suppose if this project don't deliver money, it will be very short project for the cost of the land... I am wondering, what is the win in all these parties? More traffic or maybe potential buyers from the surrounding shops? On parties i have been before, the dancers and DJ receive very few tips to cover anything. What is the business plan behind these parties then?:)

The way an underground room works is that you have to be able to terraform the land to dig a pit under the building, just like in the real world.

The normal land surface can't be much less than 25 Meters elevation, or the Linden water plane at the 20 M height will fill the pit below that with water.

Terraformed holes can't have exactly vertical sides. They will always slope outward toward the surface opening by at least one meter in each direction. So a basement either has to be smaller than the house foundartion, or you have to use prims to disguise the trench around the house.

You also can't "tunnel" sideways when you dig. Think of the land surface as a rubber sheet, with posts every 1 Meter in the X and Y direction supporting it. Terraforming tools allow you to streach the rubber up or down at any of those points, usually in 1 meter increments, and moving one point usually has at least some efect on nearby points. You can move those points up and down, but not sideways.
