It's rather useless though it might do in a pinch if you didn't use the -multiple switch when starting the client. but that's what it's for. running multiple clients on one computer.

If you have dual processors in your machine, this should run the decoding of texture files on the second processor, and speed up rendering.

[13:43] Zero Linden: Teney - there is an experimental option - turn on debug menus, then Client menu > Rendering > Run Multiple Threads [13:43] Kooky Jetaime: I can surf, watch a dvd and SL at the saem time [13:43] Terney McMillan: Alright, no worries. I just got a newish comp and its lagging quite a bit sometimes [13:43] Zero Linden: that moves the texture decode to a second thread and hence core [13:43] Kooky Jetaime: lag can be one of three things, processor lag, video lag, sim lag, or communication lag [13:43] Kooky Jetaime: make that 4 [13:43] Zero Linden: since texture decode is a MAJOR CPU drain, that is help <snip> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Zero_Linden/Office_Hours/2007_Jul_17 _____________________
