When I joined SL last week,I bought 267L per 1 US dollar.Now it is at 185L per 1 US dollar. Is this common to have such a drop?

Where are you getting this statistic? I just checked and it's sitting at L$264 to buy.

Where did you see 185L$/USD? Market data shows high/low of 276/265.

Don't you watch the news? There's been major stock market crashes around the world due to the failure of US home lender debts.

Wait, shouldn't that mean MORE Lindens to the dollar...?

rioko, go to this page and set it to advance

return back to

when u scroll down, u can see all active orders and at what rate it`s goinf for
also gives u the option to buy L$ at a fixed $/L$ price

the 185 u see is when u just enter $1

It just occurred to me, if you're using the Estimated Exchange Rate on the Lindex Buy page, you're going to get bogus results for small quantities, because of the commision. Put in at least 1000 linden or $10US.

I bought some last night and that is what was coming up in the little box. I put a dollar in the amount(just to see) and 185 was coming up automatically in the box above it. Am I reading something wrong?*blush*

Every time you buy L$ you have to pay $0.30 USD as a fee. So $1.00 USD - $0.30 USD = $0.70 USD = ~L$185. =^.^=

So if you only buy $1.00 USD in Lindens yer losing a *lot* cuz of the fee. And you pay the same $0.30 fee whether you buy $1.00 USD or $100.00 USD in Lindens. ^^

Go look here for the current and historical data on the LindeX. If you are looking at what the rate is for buying $1 worth of L$ please be aware that every L$ purchase order is charged $.30 per transaction so you only get $.70 worth of L$ or about L$186 at an exchange rate of L$266/1. If you look at what $100.00 buys at L$266/1 you will see you get L$26,520.

I sell L$ with limit sell orders and see very small purchases all the time of L$250 and less, for the life of can't understand why people do that when the effective exchange rate is so bad like you just discovered.

I just put the dollar in to see how much that buys. I actually spent $15 .I didn't know about the fee though,thanks. Learn something new everyday.

I'm not screwing with his head Alicia. I don't know a whole lot of people who buy USD 1 worth of L$. Most people I know usually throw in about USD 20 at a time. Better exchange rates that way because of the commission rates.

My guess there would be purchasing just enough lindens to finance whatever they're buying in world at that particular moment, via the lindex popup that appears when you don't have enough money to buy a particular object.
