How come other players can control my avatar?

A player bounced me up into the air

That can be done with a tool called the Mystitool or many other HUDs ore gadgets. if you are in a push allowed area they can do just about anything

May I suggest you leave money island and look for a nicer hangout for a bit? Try searching for NCI or the Shelter.

They aren't really controlling your avatar...it's more like being pushed by the playground bully. He may have knocked you down (or up, in this case), but he can't get inside your skin and make you walk around.

Actually they can control your avi, to a point, with certain huds you can change the look of a avi or cage and hold a avi. and the only way to stop it is if you have a certain hud that can or to relog.

Or tp away.

Sitting down will stop most push weapons too.

And all of this can be abuse reported if you aren't participating willingly.

Tp is a good idea but if they have a good HUD whatever they did will just follow. best bet is to get the new Quantum or a similar hud that has shields

Waste of money IMO, unless you spend a lot of time in griefer-ridden areas. I've been in SL for over two years and have never needed such a thing.

Well, I'd say a better bet is to just Abuse Report the bastards. Throwing money into the griefer/anti-griefer arms race is just insane--unless one is an arms manufacturer, of course.

well they arent supposed to be able to , but alot of things that arent supposed to happen do.

I've not heard of this. There is a script that will distort your av in an entertainingly hideous way, but it's generally in an attachment you have to wear or in a chair you sit on, or a poseball I suppose. I have never heard of a hud that somebody else can wear and distort your av with no action on your part. In any case, a relog sorts it out.

As for cages, they are really lame - just cam out of the cage, right click on the nearest object and choose "sit here" - hey presto, you're free!

As Ann says, the best defence against most attacks is just to sit down on something.

Abuse report is nice but being able to defend yourself against griefers is nice to. The one time I reported Abuse it took forever for anything to happen. so I trust my HUD to help. And I dont know about arms manufacturing. but I do know that the HUDs Im talking about can be alot of fun too. not just for griefing.

Defending yourself can be problematic though, especially if you start fighting back. Some griefers are trying to get you to do just that, so they and their friends AR you and perhaps get you suspended.

RELOG.. yes works wonders and fixes most anything.. or a deform attachement. you can wear and it will undeform your avi.
Or just stay away from the people that enjoy that stuff.

Im not saying attacking .. Im saying stopping it before it starts. with a good shield they cant even do anything to you

Some people get frustrated though, and they do attack, which is what the griefer was trying to achieve in the first place.

Im sure your right, that is the reason i got my HUD so i could defend myself. Was attacked at a club and moved all over the place the only way i could get out of it was a relog. tried sitting and TPing .. neither worked. So i got my hud and the shields keep them from doing it again
