I was placing them and needed them on the other side of the wall - now they are IN the wall...Oh my... How can I get them back? I can see their names, but can't make a hole in the wall.

I know - I should have stopped when the music was a success...

Using the left mouse button you can drag the mouse making a highlight box, don't grab the wall just the spot that you buried your pose-balls in then you can move them using the edit function.

If you dont own the wall its even easier using the tools menu X the selection "Select only my objects" then you only highlight your items.

Also, if you are handy with the camera, you can cam inside the wall... all prims are hollow inside, so you can see stuff buried in them.

I'm not sure if you need to disable camera constraints first... I think this is necessary for camming below ground, but not for prims.

Also, just a little FYI, you can turn on debug menus (control-alt-shift + D), and in the client menu, under render, you can toggle on and off various items. In this case the ball is scripted, so turning off everything but scripted items would leave your poseball there to grab easily. Another thing, if you didnt own the wall (not sure ifi you did or not in this case), but if you didnt, you could check "Select only my objects" in the tools menu, and then go into edit mode, and drag select the whole area and only your ball would have been selected. However, in this case, I would have most likely just cammed into the wall as was suggested.

Yes, easy, just follow Johan's tip on using the Client Menu, Rendering, Types, and turn OFF Surface Patch. This removes the ground leaving all objects buried beneath the surface.

First thing I do when I log (or crash repeatedly atm) is to disable camera constraints. I wish they were disabled by default.

***edit*** that menu also works for other things ... experiment! You can turn off clouds, water ... loads of things.

They don't stay disabled between sessions?

Disable camera constraints is now a persistent setting, in the 1.18.4 RC viewer. I've been using it since it came out, it's mostly good.

Hmmm ... if that's so, and I am on the latest version, why is it not the case for me?

This requires investigation!

The CSI folks will be here tonight, you can ask them to look into it :)

Are you using the RC viewer, or the latest official viewer? The official one is 1.18.3.5 I think, the RC one is the one where the settings are persistent. It's under the optional downloads link, the 'Release Candidate'. It still has some bugs in it, it's not perfect, but (for me at least) it has been working well.

It persists in the Nicholaz Bleeding Edge viewer, too.

ctr+alt+shift+5 will toggle the land visible/invisible.

I do the same thing, and will rejoice when the setting finally sticks.

BTW, as I noted above, disabling camera constraints WILL allow you to cam under the ground. But hiding the surface patch is usually the easier thing to do. :)
