Or just a new SL feature? My partner and I redid our home recently, moving 2000m up in the sky. Since then, we have been hearing sounds/voices from SL that neither of us are playing - more precisely what appears to be gesture sounds ....and as I type that I hear that god-awful laughing gesture which neither of us even own, and the nearest other avatar is +1000 m away. It was played so loudly one would think it came from my own location. Has anyone else experienced this phenomena? Edit to add: I just recalled that this first happened while we were still at 400m.

Yes I used to get this all the time when I lived at the Atai sim, and periodically at my place in Watchman. I went into About Land and checked "Restrict Sounds to this Parcel" or something like that and it went away. You could try that.

It isn't anything like that.

You could try restricting sounds as Gabriele said and also maybe check to see there are any objects that shouldn't belong on your land that might be the source. You can also enable a beacon to show sound sources to see if you can figure out where it is coming from. In View menu > Beacons, enable Sound Sources, Render Highlights, and Render Beacons. Should show you a beacon to sound sources and highlight the object and then you can mute or return it. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mute#How_Do_I_Mute_an_Object.3F

From: Joshooah Lovenkraft You could try restricting sounds as Gabriele said and also maybe check to see there are any objects that shouldn't belong on your land that might be the source. First thing we did, there are no "physical manifestations" on our land. From: someone You can also enable a beacon to show sound sources to see if you can figure out where it is coming from. In View menu > Beacons, enable Sound Sources, Render Highlights, and Render Beacons. Should show you a beacon to sound sources and highlight the object and then you can mute or return it. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mute#How_Do_I_Mute_an_Object.3FNow there's a function I didn't even know about, thanks.
