this is my first post here
i started a group on sl yesterday and charging a small enrollment fee.. ive had a number of people join.. any way my question is where does this money go? How do i use it?

The money goes to group members unless you specify which roles in the group can receive these funds.

Yes if you do not want the entire group to get the funds then you should open the group rolls and click on The EVERYONE roll and scroll down to Accounting uncheck the ability To pay group liabilities and receive dividends . It is on By Default to share with group
