The University of Hong Kong's School of Business invites you to participate in a study on Second Life. The purpose of this survey is to investigate the popularity of Second Life and residents' experience. We are also collecting data about general individual characteristics to help us better understand your Second Life experience. Your participation in the study is completely voluntary. The survey has 6 sections and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. As a token of gratitude for your participation, we will pay 100 Linden dollars (L$100) to your Second Life account provided to us. By participating in this study, you can have the chance to look at factors which are related to your Second Life experience and help us understand people's Second Life experience in general. Each person can only participate once. For more details, please click here or go to http://i.cs.hku.hk/~hfcheng2/survey/forum.php directly. If you have any questions in the survey, please free feel to send e-mail to mchau@business.hku.hk. Updated in Post#10, 13, 18 Thanks for the support so far

Not a bad one, but for L100 you're not getting my email address or avatar name. Some questions are rather redundant but more interesting than any survey I've seen here.
I am surprised that, considering that the survey has to do with personal enjoyment of SL, none of the questions included how we feel about the technology (or its shortcomings) which, rather frequently, has a huge impact on how people feel about their SL experience. Thus people may indicate that they like SL less than the high score but cannot say why that is the case (if lag, crashes, etc are the cause of this)

The writer also gave us their email address at the University to answer any questions we may have had Just my observations and i agree it was one of the better surveys i have completed

You don't need my email "for payment purposes"
Warning to fellow residents:
NEVER give out both your avatar full name and the email adress linked to your account! That puts you one step closer to being hacked.

I wonder if any of these "surveys" are actually a study of how many people they can convince to come take the study. Say, one week offer $L100 and count how many complete surveys come in. The actual answers prolly being irrelevant. The following week post a different survey but offer $1USD and count how many apps. Then $L1000, $5USD, $10USD, $L2500 etc to tease out what's people's threshold.

From: Vampaerus Wysznik I wonder if any of these "surveys" are actually a study of how many people they can convince to come take the study. This survey is far too extensive and well thought-out to be something done as a lark. And, yes, Lord States-the-obvious Sullivan. I was merely commenting on the survey since this is a forum, not an announcement or job board. I did finish the survey but these folks do NOT need my email address, as someone else stated.

Hi everyone Thanks for the suggestions so far~ We would take your opinions seriously for the improvement of the survey. I know that privarcy problem would be one of the big issues you may concern. I can make sure that we would not disclose any personal information to the public as we are really running an academic survey instead of a business one. We would only use the personal information for the payment. We can make sure that you would not receive any spam email because of this survey. For the $L100, it is just a little gift for the helpers. We know that it is not a big amount of money to you, but we would really want to express our appreciation to your help. Thanks again for your input. Your helps would be really useful to our study.

One reason i never use the email linked to here for anything other than here and why i change my password every week at least maybe twice a week if i remember but then never less than once a week, but that goes for all my sensitive data that is password protected I thourght everyone took care with their personal stuff online

I know that most of you would have the concern to the email address. We just use your email address for the notification of the confirmation of the payment. I can promise you we would not disclose your email address to anyone or any parties. If you still feel uncomfortable with giving out the email address, you would just type a fake one (e.g. noemail@giving.com) there. Actually, our group have been running our survey for nearly a month. As you may check from my history posts, it is my first time to post in this section. Thanks again for the help.

Just completed the survey using one of my alts, however the "Close Window" button on the last page would not work for me so I hope just closing the browser window recorded my participation.
(Anyone else have that difficulty?)

Has anyone counted how many educational surveys the forum has been asked to complete this past year? It has to be in the hundreds.

Maybe 1 a week. So perhaps 50? The "oh no not another survey" drama makes it seem like more. It's all an illusion.

Thanks for the support so far. I have paid for the people who has finished the survey. As I have said before, our survey is 100% an academic survey and i can promise that your email would not be disclosed or being spammed by anyone. We are really doing a real study in Second Life, so please help us to complete the survey if you feel comfortable. For those who warms others without any evidence, please try the survey first before making your own judgement to the survey. Thanks again for the helps so far

For 100L, I'll tell him your avatar name. I figured it out the old fashioned way. I looked above your picture in your post. I almost never do these, but I figured I'd take this one and see what the state of the art in surveys is in Hong Kong. Section 4 could use a rewrite. It was the exact same question over and over. But overall, it looks like there was more work put into this one than most.
