I have a room with given dimensions and a object. Now, i want to move the object so that it doesn't go outside the room. Position of room is also not fixed....means i can put room anywhere i want but still object should not go outside the room.(some thing like relative positions)

any suggestions??

You need to link your object to the room - so it will stay in the same position relative to the room. (Use Edit functions for this.)

You need to have modify permisions for both room and object to do this.

Once linked, the room and the object wil be one "object" and wll stay linked together unless you unlink them.

If you are new to building and don't know how to link objects, then it would be best to do a bit of training and practice first. Go to the Ivory Tower of Prims and work through the training notecards.

I'm reading the OP a little differently. It sounds to me as if the object is intended to wander around the room--kinda like a Roomba, I guess--without escaping. Learning to script that oneself is certainly do-able, but not the easiest script with which to begin. Off the top of my head, I don't know of an open source script that does that, but it may be worth searching the Scripting Library forum--assuming this is even what the OP had in mind.

If the object is to move about the room, then a follower script would do it.
The object would 'follow' by dynamically changing the offsets relative to the target. THe target can be static.
The object could follow the root prim of the room. Preferably, this should be in the centre of the room if the room is going to rotate as well as move.

If it’s an object that’s supposed to move, as mentioned it will have to be scripted. You’ll have to define how you want it to move as well. Does it stay on the floor or fly around? Is there furniture that has to be avoided? That sort of thing.
