Anyone else notice this... I'm in the new 1.19 Windlight viewer looking at my neighbor's property. She has her land restricted to her only. I have been looking at her red No Entry tape for months. But, now, I see nothing at all. If I try to enter I hit a totally invisible wall and get the blue not on access list message but no red tape.
I see no other indication on the map or the mini-map and can find no option to turn them on or off. I know everyone thinks they are ugly and wished them away but I'd rather see something to tell me I'm about to slam into a wall if only a marking on the mini-map.

Yes, it came up the other day: /327/36/239522/1.html These are the reasons I don't mess with Release Candidates. I have enough problems with the regular Viewers.

It is good you cannot see them anymore as it seems, they are just too ugly to mention.

If "ban lines" were visible INSIDE the parcel as well as outside, I think 99% of the problems with them would be solved.
After all, how many noobie landowners flick the lines on, think nothing happened because they don't see them, and forget to turn them off again? Quite a few, I'd guess.
Not only that, people would be less willing to spoil THEIR view as much as it spoils the view of their neighbours.
Apart from rampant paranoia, there are very few actual scenarios where banning everyone from your land have a legitimate reason.

Clearly you have never lived in close proximity to any place that attracts newbies, and had them decide repeatedly that your lovely, well-landscaped home is their public park and sandbox/trash-pile.

Ever heard of "auto return"? The ugliness of ban lines far outweights the "inconvenience" (for the want of a better word) of having people wandering by a piece of server space that you happen to rent from Linden Lab. I personally find it much more profitable to educate newbies in SL etiquette so they become productive members of society, than just simply ban them - they'll just move on, not knowing they're doing wrong, and annoy someone else.. and someone else, and someone else. Treat the root cause, and the problem is solved. Failing that, I would refer you to the wisdom of Booger from Revenge of the Nerds ... "I say we blow the fuckers up"

Is someone keeping track of how many banline threads there are?

Actually, I just bought a plot, subdivided it into 16m squares and randomly put up banlines on the area. A nice litte banline maze. So all the banlines you killed in this thread have come back.

From: Alice Katayama ......... Actually I just talked a neighbor, who I had never seen before yesterday, into taking his down. Most of the people that I have talked to have removed the restriction. Some didn't even realise that they were there. With some, I had to arrange a demonstration from my side of what their lines looked like to me. As they didn't see their own lines, it hadn't really occurred to them how they would look as a permanent feature on their own boundary - until they got a short demo.

So all the banlines you killed in this thread have come back. That would actually look quite fun and interesting as an installation. If you haven't really done it, then maybe you should, and post the SLURL. It would be nice if the outside subdivisions of the plot didn't have the lines on the outside. Fun thing to do: Fly up (over 50m agl) over the maze and Stop Flying. Fall down and gamble (shhhhhhh!) on how many times you bounce off the top of a banned 16 plot before you drop into an open 16 plot.

In response to the person who asked how to turn them off: Go to WORLD -> ABOUT LAND -> Access tab make sure you have the group NOT checkmarked - and if you have "Avatars" checked, you will need to add all your friends to it - or of course uncheck AVATARS Also check the BAN tab in there to see if you friends are accidently on it.

Kathy, I had the same experience. As soon as I used the new Windlight viewer all the ban lines were gone. And yes, I too have slammed into the now-invisible ban walls. I have an old viewer running too, and the lines are still visible on it. The view from my house is prettier with the new Windlight viewer, but walking unaware into invisible walls has drawbacks too.
