I run a small shop that makes very little money, but keeps me amused. A friend would like to give gift certificates to my shop as a prize in a competition she is running. Is there any easy way to do this? Basically, i want something that will replace Lindens and which can only be spent in my shop. I know that I could work round it by letting the prize winners choose what they want and then passing it on to them, but that seems a little clunky and not as exciting as spending your own virtual, virtual money as it were.
Thanks

Hello Seri, there *are* token systems about, in which tokens can be bought or given to people who then redeem them to someone else. I don't know if they work with a vendor. I think they need human intervention anyway thus probably defeating the object. Sadly I never recorded the owner of the system I met.
added: an afterthought! I've seen gift vouchers advertised in some shops come to think of it. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Here's a recent thread. There is a 'store card' system that may be what you are looking for. It's not cheap so it may not be feasible for you. It's the only one that I know of and doesn't require you to pass anything on to the customer. /327/b6/228464/1.html

I have gift cards and use them the manual way
person a can purchase the card to give to person b
person b buys item and sends me the card
I check my transaction log, and then send person b the value of the card, as long as all info matches up
clunky but it works
I would love to get that other card, but can not afford the cost of it
I also have the meta card system for those who shop with that

Thanks all, looks like some manual system is called for.
