But we wont be in the news for long once people get home and digest the economic forecasts for our globe.

Any news is good news. I just talked with someone who just joined because they heard about it on the radio. So every time SL pops up in the news it's like an advertisement. I mean have you ever heard much about other video games recently? Besides Wow of course.

Yup Bree, probably see an influx of new people after that story. There is a huge article about it in one of the UK dailies, where it appears the people involved have given their sides of the story. The whole shebang is in there RL and SL inc pics.

No she did not. What she actually said was,

I agree - I've just read the newspaper story and it's absolutely hilarious! :D

Even Auntie Beeb's just taken it up, with the intriguing question: "How do avatars have sex?"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7729207.stm

From: someone
Users can make their avatars sit, lie or stand for sex, says Kieron Gillen of gamerzines.com, but the intercourse is usually an animated sequence triggered by a click of the mouse on an interactive "node", although it depends how they are programmed.
Interactive nodes? Is that what all the trendy kids are calling poseballs these days?

From: someone
Some Second Lifers have been known to misbehave - a US journalist was attacked by flying penises when conducting an interview in his virtual office.

And infidelity is not the only thorny ethical issue thrown up by virtual sexual - some players have had sex with animals.

LOL

Bless, for those who complain and bitch when others say (to directly quote someone) that SL is all sex and morons.

She was being flippant but what would SL do without all the virtual jigging? Maybe those stories should point out that virtual prostitution is completely tolerated ...

I do think it's funny how people are represented as being happy with some poseball hopping. How DULL!

It won't be long before some suit at the Beeb hears about Furries and signs up David Attenborough to make a documentary.

I would pay good money to see that. He's a legend and his handling of it would be superb :D

There was a thing on BBC about virtual worlds addiction and possible harmful effects - but this time it was World of Warcraft (whatever that is!) getting the stick!

Re. the divorce thing, I wonder if a wife who'd been waiting years for her husband to do up their shabby house would have grounds for divorce if she discovered he'd built himself a luxury palace in SL:)

I love it when a major news outlet like NBC or BBC run a story on Second Life. It gives me a delusionally false, yet comforting sense of being a part of something important.

I felt the same way when CSI did that episode about us. And then I felt sad that CBS apparently had a much more robust and flashy version of the grid than us little people get to play on.

MSNBC is behind. CNN covered it yesterday morning.

*snorts* Don't need the soaps on TV. Got all I need in SL.
