When you find a fabulous place to ponder, someone comes along and tries to sell you stuff. I love SL quiet spots and some of the views are outstanding. I am standing there, admiring the view and "pop", try my mates place and have a look at this. Why!!! I am not going to mute people, I am here for the experience, but, sometimes, it would be so nice if folks just realised, some of us just want to enjoy SL and the hard work people put into it. Not just buy stuff. Am I being to cynical????? I sometimes, REALLY, enjoy my own space on here

You're clearly not hanging out in the same areas I am. Sometimes I think I'm the last person alive in SL, just me and the camping zombies.
I did once have a guy ask me to come check out his "club" (which I wasn't interested in -- I'm not to the point I need to purchase companionship or whatever) but I think this was just because the new search is a little buggy and he was trying anything he could to drum up business.
Have you wandered around Caledonia? Nobody ever bothers me there -- and I even dress up in my Regency outfit to fit in.

I must be frequenting the more dodgy areas lol All the same, when I find somewhere really nice, and I have found lots, its a bit annoying when someone persists in selling I just want to sit, enjoy and chill. Chatting is very welcome, but sell, please, no

I can give you a great deal on a nice scenic plot to get away from annoying people like that.

You know, I have never had that happen. Had a lot of people try and pick me up, and one Jesus freak follow me around once, but never had anyone try and sell me anything.

I do however, scope places out before I TP. I don't like huge crowds, not sure why, but I would like to start making some friends. I just realized how ridiculous my statements was..........LOL

Those things happen occasionally I guess, but not often enough that I can see a trend. Most times I'm alone at places.

Most places I go I don't see single avatar but I usually avoid places with lot of green dots unless its a friends place. I don't like being around a lot of Avatars because it gets confusing and my fps go down to almost nothing.

I rarely see anyone in SL Except occasionally at the hangout (I think I saw as many as 6 or 8 people there once ) and at one full sim where I crashed (I didn't see all "40" but people kept saying the sim was full and that it was mainland and so that meant 40 people). And I did visit Caledonia. Yes, no one bothered me there. No one was there.

The Weather Channel is a fun place to meet people. Eveline and I went there the other day and there were at least 7 other people surfing the waves. Fun stuff! But yes, it sort of does seem like a ghost town lately.

I'm a little like that. I tend to avoid crowds in SL, then I wonder if I'm the only one here... A wonderful way to 'check out' crowds while still keeping your distance is to go to music events. You'll enjoy a show and meet people without feeling like you're crashing a party. You'll only stand out if you want to. As for the original question, I've never had that happen exactly but, at times, I do get the impression SL is more of a big business than anything else. I've held off being premium because I don't want to own land (yet), and don't feel the need to pay to have the 'privilege' of spending money inworld - and, yes, I do spend. My money goes to deserving, hard working, creative people. If SL gave me no choice in the matter, maybe I would be premium, but I'd also have less money to spend inworld. So far, no one has 'pushed' their wares on me, and I've been to many wonderful parks and quiet spots.

I had my first case of a Tele Immer yesterday....someone was spamming not groups but individuals to buy his land. Is this against the rules in SL?

Weird how people congretate en masse in some places while others remain utterly deserted. For instance, you couldn't slip in sideways into Frank's Jazz club unless you really enjoy being stuck in lag for the entire time, but we ended as the only people dancing at Blue Moon, which is a perfectly nice club. I suppose word of mouth and that bizarre search feature is what draws the crowds, who all end up in the same place. Of course, any place involving nudity or freebies is always super busy
