Try muting ambient sounds in Preferences. I don't think you can mute just the fountain.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

If you own the land you are on, go in About land>fourth tab (forget the name...might be media) and click the box next to "Restrict spatialized sound"

LOL. Looks like you need to turn down your volume. Or start a sentence with "Mistress, permission to speak freely..."

Does your Mistress know that you don't find headaches erotic?

You are definitely slutty in the best possible definitions of the word. Dirty, hot, and a little scary, but in a good way. I'd like do awful things to you, but I'm pretty sure you'd snap me in two like a twig and leave me cross-eyed, dizzy and confused. I'm giving you a 9.8, tied for the top rating ever given. Almost off-the charts slutty. Shame on you and congratulations. -- Trout

Not sure why you can't mute the fountain. I mute noise-griefing objects in sandboxes regularly, and it works like a charm - once you've located the object. Just click on the fountain, click through to the "mute" option, and you get the "mute" pop-up box. Maybe you have to click on the root prim of the fountain, or whatever prim the sound script is? Or maybe it's actually in another object in or near the fountain you're not spotting?

I'm going to give you a free pass this time and NOT ask how you know how to correctly address a Mistress... ;)

Is it possible the fountain is not linked and what the OP is muting is not the cause of the sound? Is the water and particles separate?

linked, and I've tried the drag method to make sure there are no invisibles, I've muted like.. every prim in it that I can find... o.o

Tried sound source beacons? Sometimes those will turn up unexpected things.

There's an - old, old - bug with mute where it won't mute the sounds if they're being generated by a script in a prim other than the root prim of a linkset :(.

"Restrict spatialized sound" only affects sounds leaving the parcel, not sounds coming in.

If you turn it on, your neighbour won't hear your crashing waves, but if you're hearing your neighbour's he/she is the one that needs to turn the restriction on.

(Never mind, seems like it mutes both incoming and outgoing now :))
