Group permissions are they combined or restricted?

How do group permissions work? Are they combined or do they apply the most restrictive settings?

For example if the everyone group doesn't allow creating landmark but another group does and an AV is a member of another group, will the be able to create landmarks?

I'm asking because my renters group does allow creation of landmarks, everyone doesn't and a tenant can't create landmark even though she's in the renters group.

I have now given the everyone group create landmark rights but there are other permissions I wouldn't be so keen on giving to the everyone group.

I don't know how they "officially" work, but from personal experience the LEAST restrictive are applied. That's certainly how they have always worked for me anyway, not sure why you would get the problem you described though.

Check the individual parcel settings. It may have "Create Landmarks here" set to off. I believe in this case no one can create LMs there no matter what perms they have in the group. Parcel settings will overide group settings AFAIK.

How do ROLE permissions work? Are they combined or do they apply the most restrictive settings?

For example if the everyone ROLE doesn't allow creating HOME POINT but another ROLE does and an AV is a member of another ROLE, will the be able to create HOME POINT?

I'm asking because my renters ROLE does allow creation of HOME POINT, everyone doesn't and a tenant can't create HOME POINT even though she's in the renters ROLE.

I have now given the everyone ROLE create HOME POINT rights but there are other permissions I wouldn't be so keen on giving to the everyone ROLE.

Note: Changed quote to proper termnology to avoid confusion. Changes are in caps since BBC code is broken and I can't bold. You're talking about Roles within a group, not idividual groups. And speaking of setting a Home Point instead of a Landmark.

If a person is in several Roles within a group, they have all Abilities checked off in all Roles. So in answer to yoru question, the are cumualtive, or combined.

As a side note, it has been a long-standing bug that creating a HOME POINT is broken on group land.

If indead you were refering to making Landmarks, then Lord Berchot is correct and you need to adjust your parcel settings in About Land >>> Options tab.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

Check the individual parcel settings.

Cheers, that worked for the LM issue and it wasn't set.

Now the other settings, she can't do lots of stuff like listing it in the search. Is it an issue with group owned land on private estates?

Genius! Cumulative was the word I was looking for, after years of seeing this word come up with NTFS and share permissions I should be able to remember it! Thank you for your advice Jessica :)

I haven't tested it, but the only thing that makes sense is for them to be combined.

I'm starting to think it's an issue with estate owned group land. My mainland tenants don't have these problems.
