Help - Any way to embed a URL in a notecard?

I've done a thorough search and have been unable to find out if it is possible to add a clickable external URL to a notecard. Any suggestions on how to do it?

Thanks in advance :-)

I think you just type it, or paste it, into the notecard.

lindal is correct

type or paste it into the notecard, it will not be clickable in the notecard, the person with the card will have to copy and paste it into a browser to use it.

Can't be done. See above.

Thanks everyone!! I've tried formatting in every way I can imagine and although the text of the URL is there, it doesn't seem possible to make it clickable. :-(

This is correct (see my post above)

you can not make a link in a notecard clickable

you can however copy and paste it into chat where it becomes clickable or copy and paste it directly into a web browser

Make a landmark and put the landmark in the notecard - holding CTL and dragging it from your inventory.

If it is a SLurl:

Stand where you want them to go

Click Map, (on bottom of your screen), Then "Copy SLurl to clipboard", then close map.

Go to Edit (on top of your screen), choose Paste. It will be pasted wherever your cursor is active.

If it's an address pasted into your note card, they (the next person) will have to copy and paste it into local chat, hit return or click 'say', click 'local chat' to make it an active window, then they will be able to click on the link.

--

You can drag a landmark to a note card, and they can click that, from the note card.

Please note, the OP asked about external URL's

(not slurls' or landmarks)

my guess is they want to put a url to a website on a notecard and have it a hotlink in the notecard, which can not be done.

If it is not absolutely necessary to have it in a notecard, one can script a prim to pop up a blue box notice which when clicking ok, will take the person that clicked it, to the url specified in the script (which of course would be in the prim).

It is hard to suggest alternatives when one is not sure exactly why the hotlink is needed in a notecard.

however the info is not related to the question and can cause confusion for anyone looking for information such as the OP was looking for

Unless they notice the 'If it's a SLURL' bit, right?

I mean, seriously, you're complaining about too much information?

Hell, Clarissa's is kinda impossible to do with a normal URL, isn't it?

Thanks Keira. :)

Rha: I did preface it to indicate this was additional info.

One reason I posted that, also, was that not ten minutes before seeing the thread, I had been asked the exact same thing by someone in-world. And turns out, they *meant* SLurl but did not know the word for it. It took some patience and gentle questioning to figure out what they were trying to do/wanted to learn.

So it's totally possible someone would read this thread with either question in mind - in any case it was clearly labeled as "if you want to use a SLurl."

;p

More additional information only vaguely connected to the original question but perhaps interesting to someone who sees it:

There is a script, which works like so: If someone clicks on an object containing this script an option will pop up asking if they want to go to a specified website. If they click "yes" then their web browser will open and go to that site. I usually combine this script with ones that give landmarks and note cards.

sorry for saying anything and yes I was complaining about too much info I guess

It gets confusing when people ask about one thing, and get replies relating to a bunch of other things

To me that's just a 'discussion' - but apology accepted Rha. (ETA: I don't feel my SLurl info was off topic however!) Sometimes 'discussions' or even being picky in here is a great diversion from RL...

I like being in here 'discussing' when I have a few mins to fill or kill between things when tied to my desk. (Not literally. That would be another 'discussion' entirely.)
