Late Tier Process Question

I have a very good friend who shares a sim with her friend. Her friend has run into trouble where she may not be online for awhile. The friend has also neglected to pay tier for this month, which was due the 28th. The friend is the account that the estate is owned by, so my friend is pretty much screwed, since she has no way to pay tier in an account she does not have access to.

My question is, does anyone know how long LL will allow the estate to go past due before they pull the plug?

Thanks in advance,
Crighton

Congrats on your 100th post! Not very helpful I know, but it's all I got.

I'm not sure if there is a Linden Lab grace period offered... but I do know if LL is unable to deduct the Lindens automatically from the estate owners account, they will attempt to charge the credit card/bank information on file. Meaning if the estate owner does not have enough Lindens on hand to cover the tier.

Perhaps some others will have more information then I do. Good luck!

i have been late a few times myself. at one week delinquent the estate owner will get locked out of the grid and get locked out of the lindex. at two weeks they will also get locked out of the forum. at three weeks nothing else happens, so i reckon its safe to say your friend has at least three weeks. i suspect they allow you to go no more than one month delinquent though.

ll will never try to deduct $L to cover tier. they will try to deduct from your usd balance though. if you get locked out you also get locked out of the lindex, so you cannot even cash out your $L for usd, and when your account eventually is terminated your $L balance will not roll over into usd or be credited in any way. it will simply 'vanish'.
i think its a good idea to use a basic non premium alt as your estate av when all the pitfalls are considered.

I was told by LL that they try to take the tier from your L$ first if you dont have enough then they take it from your CC account.

You probably misunderstood as there is no US$ in that short list.

We can't pay tier to LL with L$.

The USD balance is always used first and then they go to your registered payment method if there is not enough USD. I concurr with the others, at no time do LL take L$ as tier payment.

Yes us using the good old pound feel your pain, but you do pay in USD, hence why it currently sucks for us. Swings and roundabouts though, it's something that can benefit us too although personally I like a more fixed cost. Any Australians or Brits who cash out will be happy with the current rates, it's not so good for consumers.

Previously, certainly in the UK, it was the other way round with a good rate for consumers but business owners who cash out getting less.
