Everytime I log in, within the minute SL all of the sudden closes and a little window comes up that says something about hardware app and then Sending to Server, try 1... That window goes away and then I have to relog into SL, only to crash and to have that window show up again. I don't know how to fix this. Anyone know what this is?

I had that happen when I downloaded the new viewer without removing the old one first. Try completely uninstalling SL and then reinstalling it... worth a shot.

I had that happen when I downloaded the new viewer without removing the old one first. Try completely uninstalling SL and then reinstalling it... worth a shot. I have always had crashes since joining SL a few months ago. I have tried everything, uninstalling, reinstalling, using candidate releases, standard releases, other viewers, etc. I still have crashes, although I typically can stay in longer, often over an hour. Does anyone know what causes crashes? I use a Dell laptop with 1 GB ram (soon to be increased). |

I need to run SL at a lab at work (long story) and we're currently trying to upgrade some old machines to manage this.
The constant crashes appear to be caused by woefully inadequate video cards. Visit http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest to find out if your computer's hardware can manage SL's high requirements. B. _____________________

I have to add more memory for other reasons as well. Many things, when the memory is too low, just slow down or won't start. SL and the other client viewers are the only things I have seen that consistently crash. But I have noticed that when I have been a long time since rebooting and I am running a lot of other things SL is more likely to crash. I will let everybody know when I upgrade my ram. Mary |
