A lot of the information in the FAQ (2 years of live helping) sticky is woefully out of date. Who is in charge of maintaining/updating this? One would assume that it should be part of a moderator's job...

It would if we had a moderator.

It might be better if some of this help info was provided not as forums posts but as links to wiki pages. Then we could all update the info.

Such info is already in the wiki, of course, but instead of having links to it here in prominent display the support forum, we have not publicly editable forum posts.

LL is paying some staff to update the Knowledge Base, and paying Torley to provide instructional material. Time spent updating forum posts is time not spent doing something else, so what is it that should be left undone in order to update the forum posts?

The posts of the old Live Help notecards aren't really things that the moderator should edit anyway. The thread was created by FlipperPA, and his words shouldn't be arbitrarily altered by the moderator. They are a record of what the content of certain notecards were at a particular point in time. It would be misleading to alter them.

Yep. I think all the stickies really should be a collection of pointers to user generated wiki pages. For one thing, the wiki is actually Hyperlink Enabled--everything's up-to-date with 1990s technology there! And you can even, like, use formatted text!

If we just had a wysiwyg editor in the wiki. I think that would increase participation in the wiki a good bit.

I'm hoping my post had something to do with it. That moron needs duct taped and thrown off a bridge.

Good idea, SuzanneC and Qie! Qie, weren't you and Nika sort of heading up the Save Teh Forums party to Robin Linden?

Guilty as charged. But this has about it an ominous tinge of (shudder) *work*. :o

The wiki is actually not that bad. It's not WYSIWYG, but it's mostly less dorky than bbcode. So the real challenge would be consolidating the info from multiple posts and dusting off the content. And not all that formidable a task, really.

I'll try to make time tomorrow and attack one of the stickies to see if it's as good an idea as it sounds.
