Yeah, 30 minutes of inactivity does that. I believe I've seen some things on SLExchange that claim to keep it from happening - cannot vouch for the veracity of those claims, though.

If your computer is near the washing machine, load the washing machine with an unbalanced load so it wobbles when it's on spin - the set it to spin and leave the mouse on top of the machine. When the spin cycle ends you just restart it. From: someone debug mode client > charecter tests > and uncheck log out for inactivity
Woot! I never knew that. I might become a professional camper!!!

The debug setting is new to me too, I got logged out the other day...I wasn't worried becasue I heard mysti prevents AFK log outs, but it mustn't have worked... I'll have to set it when i get home.

Anti AFK

There are numerous anti-idle tools out there, many of them free. For instance, the Mysti-Tool multi-HUD (which has a free version and a pay version) has an anti-idle script that the user can turn on and off with a button. I know there are free anti-idle attachments, too.

From: Kiboe Munro debug mode client > charecter tests > and uncheck log out for inactivity The full way to get to this is: - Client menu, which is just to the right of 'Help' (it is called Advanced in 1.19.1.4 and higher versions) - if you don't have this menu, click Ctrl-Alt-d - Character - Character Tests - uncheck 'Go Away / AFK When Idle' No need to buy anything special

LOL Love the washing machine idea! I use the debut settings myself.
However here's something that just happened to me yesterday. I was on a parcel and got called away from my house for the biggest part of the day. I accidentally left my laptop up and running SL. When I got home, late that same night, I had been banned from the sim where I had left my avitar. I don't know why I was banned. My avitar in no way resembles a bot, and one glance at my profile and you'll immediately see that I'm an active character in SL. I guess I need to ask the sim owner cause that just wasn't nice.

There are some sims that are very firm against leaving your avi just hanging there - especially some of the RP ones -- but if you IM the sim owner and explain the circumstances, all may get sorted out okay. As an extra note - once upon a time I heard that if you actually minimize the SL window, then you can still time out and get logged off, regardless of settings - never checked on that so I don't know for sure.

The rumor I heard is that anti-idle objects periodically check for the AFK animation, and when they find the avatar running it, they stop it. The implication being, SL checks for inactivity by the AFK animation running uninterruptedly for too long.
This is a simple script to write, given the UUID for the AFK anim (which you can find on the scripting wiki).
