Hello there. This question I did send an email to the SL team. No answer so thought I'd check here.

I am missing my Search menu. I know someone will confuse this statement so I shall clarify. My Search button at the bottom is present. I am aware of the Search listing under Edit at the top. I have both of these. Problem is when I click on either of these the actual menu does Not appear. Meaning the big square box where you enter the info to search for.

I have already tried to uninstall SL totally and reinstall it. Still missing. I also collapsed the edges of the SL screen to make sure the missing menu was not out of sight or behind the window somewhere. It's simply gone.

This is making it difficult to travel and find anything in SL. If anyone has some ideas it would be appreciated. Thank you kindly.

New one on me, but I'll go in and mess around with some settings and see if I can come up with the same result.

Hope you get an answer/solution soon

Not sure if it'll help but I managed to find this on the SL site/support:

How to fix a broken Search button

If nothing happens after clicking the Search button, the Search window may be stuck.

This happens when the Search window is taller than Second Life's screen, and the Search window is dragged to the bottom of the Second Life window. The Search window will get pulled below the bottom of the Second Life window and out of view.

Set UI Size to .75

The quick fix that works for most Residents is to simply adjust Second Life's UI (user interface) size.

Go to Edit > Preferences.
Click the Graphics tab.
Set UI Size to .75.
Click OK.
Click Search.
Locate the Search window, most likely at the bottom of the Second Life window.
Increase display resolution

If this doesn't work, there is an alternate fix: Increase Second Life's display resolution.

Leave the UI Size set to .75.
Go to Edit > Preferences.
Click the Graphics tab.
Deselect the Run in a window option.
Increase Second Life's display resolution. If the display resolution is currently 800x600, set it to a higher resolution like 1024x768.
Click Search.
Locate the Search window, most likely at the bottom of the screen.
