Group Liability

I just checked my transaction history and noticed a 12$L debit for "group liability." What is that for? And to whom was it paid?

Thanks

One of the groups you're a member of has got financial liabilities turned on for the role you're in. The transaction history should tell you which group it was.

Ugh, the group liability issue again. *sigh*

In probability, the group owns land which is listed in search. That 30L a week is divided among all members who are in a role with that checked. By default it is checked for everyone in the group. 12L is an odd amount though.

Oh, that's right. I do have a listing for 30 per week for my organization that is owned by the group I created. I had assumed that I was the owner of the group, that I would be charged that fee and not the group, which is not the case as I now realize. This is my first group owned organizaiton, so I am still learning.

Thanks so much for your help.

Ah your other group members may query why they've been charged Grace!!!

I don't know why financial liabilities is on for everyone by default.

Something else to think of, if you sell the land while the liabilities are checked for everyone, everyone gets a cut of the sale price.

Oh, this trips up so many people. Is there a JIRA to get this changed?

I once had a serious falling out with a friend when his group started charging a liability. He had no idea, and I had no idea this could be done accidentally.

Yep went and voted for it. I left groups who foisted the cost of directory-advertising onto their members. Usually, these were established groups and no where did it say in their charter that they passed the buck (or bill in this case) onto the members.
