Have you guys been to one of his shows yet? I've been to, like, 7, and it has been tons of fun (aside from the crazy lag). Not to mention he has the HOTTEST voice ever.  Anybody else that do live music around SL thats worth going to see? What all is involved in getting started?

If you want to start catching live performances, just watch the events under Live Music. Join a couple of the live music groups.

Every night is filled with live acts..both stellar and not. The nice thing is, that in SL, if you don't like the act you can TP to another in a snap. No waiting in lines, paying covers, or such. So just open the live events tab, pick a show and take the leap. I did that last night, and had a great time listening to a country performer that I would have missed if I had stuck to the names I already knew. As far as getting started, you need a way to make music, a stream (like shoutcast), and a parcel of land. It's just that simple.

As far as finding other musicians, yeah, what others have already mentioned. Harper is a great guy whether behind the guitar or not. He was one of the first on my friends list from way back. If you haven't been to one of his shows, go.

It constantly amazes me how many really talented performers come into SL and perform for peanuts for us. I make sure to tip them as best I can.
My personal favourite right now is Edward Kymoon, I really love his performances - one step up from "one singer and their guitar"....
He has a wonderful song about SL that he composed with his SL girlfriend.

I have never heard of Harper Messmer so I cannot tell you if there is anyone else as good as or better than him in SL. Hard to tell you who you might like if I have never heard of the one you list as liking.
