Is My Ping Normal?

Remember I no computer expert so keep answers straight forward.
Stats. say I getting a ping sim 174 msec.
I've been told this very high for an internet game, is it?
I'm in the UK is it my distance from America?
If bad anything I can do?

It is normal (says a year-long car racer from the UK) - I don't check much now, but don't remember anything below 130ms. *checks* 171 right now.

Yeah, up to around 200 is to be expected in Europe.
Incidentally, this is the original meaning of "lag", or latency; the time from a command is given until it actually reaches the server.
It makes things requiring fast reaction difficult, even though the actual throughput of your Internet connection may be high, as measured in data transferred per second.
That why you'd usually want to play action games on a server in at least in the same part of the world; playing SL air hockey is just not fun for us Europeans :-S

Well looks like I'm in the same range as others.
Sorry I did not know 'ping' had 2 meanings to those I embarressed, lol
