I am trying to figure out how to give my av a new walk, sit, stand, etc... I'm just not understanding how it works. Do the animation overrides not connect with the controls? I mean, how do I use them so that my av walks when she walks and doesn't keep walking while she's standing still. Do the animations not connect to the actions? Do I have to tell it to stop walking every time she stops? That seems more trouble than it's worth, so I'm convinced I'm not doing it right.

Something that tells the system to use a particular animation instead of the default one when you walk, sit, stand, and so forth. I use the ZHAO 2. There's some others out there though. _____________________

So, how do I get that? I am new, see. Ahh. Do a search in classified for "ZHAO 2" ... or just "animation override". Should find lots of vendors that sell them. And welcome to the grid. ![]() _____________________

oh... the ZHAO 2 is free open source. some versions may come pre-stocked with animations that you may or may not want, but the basic software that's used to *trigger* the animations appropriately is free. (I seem to recall that it kind of originates at Material Squirrel--but this could be wrong.)

Hi Lolita
In simple terms, the ZHAO II AO (Animation Overrider) is a bit like an empty box (this can be picked up free). You put some animations (walk, sit, stand, etc) into the box, then wear the box to switch it on. There is some clever, scripty stuff inside the box that kind of takes over from the standard SL walk, etc, so your AV uses the ones in the box instead, and you don't need to do any clicking to stop, start, etc. You can buy AO's pre-loaded with various animations, but you'll probably find half of them you won't use or don't like. I've got one where one stand makes me put my hands up behind my head and kind of makes me pout, which I hate. The ZHAO II instructions are quite easy to follow - dropping the animations into the contents and a bit of notecard editing - well, I can do it!!! Take a trip to some of the larger animation stores - Vista Animations I know give away the ZHAO, and you can try out the poses, etc, to see what you like. Hope helps. _____________________

The ZHAO is made by Ziggy Puff - and you can pick up a free one with instructions from Ziggy - search and look at Ziggy's profile picks to find a landmark.
Aso search the Animation forum here for ZHAO - lots of useful information there and links to tutorials. _____________________

There is a freebie store at Devilfish which gives away a pack of several Zhao AOs some of which are pre-loaded with animations. The Ninjya one has some particularly cool standing anims (but the fly one is horribly broken, and you'll need to remove it).

There is a freebie pack of standing poses and flying poses from ANIMAH that you can put into the ZHAO-II AO. I think you should be able to find if you search for 'ANIMAH' in-world, if you can't, IM me and I'll try to find the location for you (I'm not in-world now).
You can also IM me if you're not sure how to set up the AO... it helps to have someone walk you through it step-by-step like a friend did for me ![]() |

I posted a screencapped tutorial showing how to create a ZHAO using the ANIMAH freebie flight and stand animations that Quaintly Tuqiri mentions above. You can find both it and a link to a store that stocks them (FabFree) here--
