Possessed Piece of Furniture

I rented a house a two and a half weeks ago. For the last 3 days, one of my pieces of furniture has become possessed. Each time I go into the room, it's in a different position, out of place, on it's side or end. A few minutes ago, it started moving all over the room, went up toward the ceiling, then disappeared completely. I found it upside down on the roof. Any idea how to keep it where it belongs? I'm really frustruated.

Double check to see if the permission for Allow Anyone to Move has been set on the Edit window.

Is there anything scripted inside of it that tries to move one of the prims? A cabinet door that opens, a drawer that pulls out, etc...

(You could always leave the creator an IM/notecard... if it's not set to "Allow everyone to move" or "Share with group" and it's a script inside then you'd probably not be the first person to have issues with it :))

I had something similar happen shortly after Havok4 was brought to us - for some very strange reason 4 boxes of mine "moved" slightly every day, they changed rotation, position and it drove me nuts...

I put them back in place every single day only to see them at a different spot the next day ;-)

Now I still don't know WHY it has happened, but at least I found a solution for my problem - for some strange reason thouse boxes turned physical a few minutes after rezzing (they were not physical when first rezzed and I've never touched that setting), I don't know if it is Havok4 related (it's a sim border parcel so maybe it has something to do with it, who knows).

After unchecking the physical box they finally stayed where they should be :-)

I still have no clue why they became physical each time a few minutes after rezzing (has never happened with havok1 and the same boxes), but that's what happened, so you could have a look if your furniture turns physical too for no obvious reason ;-)

If you have given anyone permission to modify your stuff, they could be playing tricks on you. If the object is set to physical then other avatars could bump it and move it around. Otherwise, objects in SL generally do not behave in the way you described, unless they are scripted or someone is interacting with them. When editing an object they sometimes will jump around and revert to previous positions when you are moving them. But I have never heard of this happening over an extended period of time and its hard to imagine a software bug or database error that would significantly modify the position and rotations of an object.
