I've been building alot of differant things, and I've finally opened up a store. its looking a mess now lol. what im thinking is this..... where do i find those rez things, for example, if i have a reception desk set up, my customers can click and it change to the next item, like a matching desk. that way i dont have to set all my furniture out at once. im losing prim space . how do i get one of those rez things, or what is it called, and is it very easy to figure out how to use? and if you have any other suggestions on cleaning up my store, please... any advice will be greatly appreciated. thank you so much.

If your furniture has several models that are just different colors or have different textures you could just put up pictures of the alternate models while having just one for floor display. I find that store fixtures like doorways and shelves tend to take up a lot of prims as well. Try looking at your store decorations and see if you can remove them or make them simpler. That's all I can think of right now.

Most vendors have an option to rez products.

get yourself some bigger plot with enough prims and put all you items in the store. People don't like vendors.

I wish i could get more land and more prim space, but as it is now i just started the store and im not even making enough to pay the full tier payment yet. i keep moving inventory around, putting some back in inventory and making more. and changing textures on things. but it just seemed a good idea to maybe have some rezzer out for matching sets of furniture. and maybe even the differant plants, instead of putting them all out at once. clothes seem easy, you can just make a pic and put it up. but furniture and room decor people had rather see it and try it out. guess ill just have to try differant things still and see what works... oh also, do people respond much if you place a "comments or suggestion" box in a store? i wanted to do that also and get feedback from customers but wasnt sure if they would even bother filling anything like that out. and btw ty so much for the info ive recieved here so far, you all have been great!

It all depends on the situation and how well it's done. I don't remember if the most recent vendor vs. individual sign thread reached any conclusions about which is preferred by the most people. |

IMO I've had much more success with SLX than a store. I've found I shop on SLX almost always before venturing out to a store also.

We at Hosoi Ichiba have set all our items to sell a copy of the original item. All items are on display in sets thus customers can experience the items as they are. We only use texture boards for the big items like buildings.
Our customers don't experience our shop as a shop but rather as a pretty place to wander around. Dont forget, people are smart! They only have to hover their mouse over the items to see price and descriptions. And Yes, Just like in RL, you need to invest some time and money before you can make a profit. Also it is a very good idea to use SLX, Onrez and SLUniverse. You can display all your items in detail with several screenshots. Success! Interesting comment up above that people prefer products (for appropriate items of course) than vendors. I have a mix in my store, depending on product line. Vendors allow me to give my wife a commision and allow my customers to give my no transfer items as gifts while they are standing right there ready to purchase, rather than having to go to SLX to do so (I do have my entire product line there as well).
I also have most of my vendered products on display or, when not practical, shown in high-quality signage. I did start out with the right-click product and buy option but switched to address the above issues. Anyone else care to comment? I'm always keen to find out what customers prefer. |

I can't imagine any shoppers prefering to see varieties of items from a vendor than seeing them all on display. e.g. it would be so much better to look and various colors of sofa to see which is prefered, rather than try to compare one with a previous, out of sight one. So full displays are to aimed at, imo.
Because of prims, I have some rezzing vendors for fireplace variations (made the vendors myself - they aren't suitable for general use), but I might just do away with them now. _____________________

Personally, my customers really like to see the actual items even if it is a diff color of something on display. I do not use any temp rezzers or vendors at all for this reason. I sell furniture and home decor and find that the thing with those rez vendors is sometimes they are really slow. I am an impatient shopper so i often wont wait for the item to load and generally do not myself by things sold in them or in vendors.
My suggestion would be to just keep the prims in the items you sell as low as possible which will allow you to have as much out as you can and also make your prim conscious customers happy. If you have high prim things to sell, my vote would be to use one or two of the item in world and make your own for sale boxes with other colors on them that show them up close for detail. _____________________
