This new one... for whatever reason, I cannot access the grid. Is there a way to go back to an old viewer? And where would I find it to DL? Sigh... I didn't keep the old ones.

Edited to add:

Yes, my computer is an old piece of crap. I run XP, the bare minimum RAM etc to even log in. Yes, I know I have been living on the edge with it.... I plan on replacing it soon. Not just.. right now.

oh.. I submitted a ticket on this. It was almost instantly closed, with a message to check the blog, as they are aware of the issues with the new viewer. Gee.. thanks.. but I STILL CANNOT LOG IN!!

/me grumbles at the utter lack of support and goes back to trying to decipher out the Nicholaz thingie...

Hi Ivory,

You can go back to a previous viewer.
And since you've apparently already found Nicholaz Beresford's thingy :D .........
If you go to Nicholaz' blog and pick one of his viewers from the relevant blogpost he also adds a link to relevant LL viewer you need to run his version. I'm running his BE-s and it's very smooth indeed.

Good luck!

For the main viewer:

November 7, 2007
http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-18-4-3_Setup.exe

September 28, 2007
http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second%20Life%201-18-3-5%20Setup.exe

September 19, 2007
http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second%20Life%201-18-2-1%20Setup.exe

The first two should be able to connect to the grid, not all sure about the last one.

You also didn't explain your actual problem, going back to an older viewer is just postponing the inevitable. What specific problem are you running into?

(and with what viewer? main/windlight/release candidate.. if you're unsure, just give the entire version at the bottom right when you start the client, including the build number between parenthesis)

XP is good, Vista is not;)

Check your My Downloads folder, maybe you saved a copy.Otherwise, nothing you can do. I have a viewer thats over a month old and it lacks some of the new features, but it works much much better.:)

Issues Logging On ..
11-30-2007 17:35
After installing the update ... I can no longer log into SL at all. Despite our best efforts something unexpected has gone wrong is the error I keep receiving. I've even tried installing past versions as per the suggestion in this thread. I'm running it on a Compaq laptop with 1 gig of RAM and an AMD 64 Athlon x 2 running *bangs head on desk* Vista. not sure if that is the issue or what but I'm running out of ideas. Anyone have ANY ideas?

Article ...

Just a sidenote to my previous post ... I happened upon thsi article from Feb.

http://www.news.com/No-Second-Life-for-Microsofts-Vista/2100-1043_3-6159057.html

""These changes are just about ready for an official release, at which point we will start the process of ensuring that Second Life runs under Vista."

My question is if they were talking about fixing all these issues in Feb. why are those of us using Vista still having issues? If I could go back to XP I would, and I will as soon as I get a router to hook up my other pc, but unfortunately this laptop is configured to Vista and I can't change that. When will LL get off theirs hands and do what they said they were going to do almost a year ago?
