I want to set up something where, once the rent is paid to a bot, an automatic invitation is sent to the rentee to allow them to join a user group so that they can have use of the building controls and rez furnishings...Is there a way to make that happen?

Thx...

Not that I know of but it would be a bloody useful feature. If you leave your group open random people join and if you leave it as invite only people have to wait to join the group so something such as you describe would be useful but probably a bit of a security issue.

This can not be done at this time.

I have a sign that sends our staff a message when clicked that someone wants to join the group so we can invite manually.

on the other hand, you could leave the group open yet require a join fee of some amount. then legit renters could have that fee refunded once you logged back in-world. the result being that instant group membership is available, yet the fee would make joining distasteful to non renters (provided the fee was high enough).

I imagine it's just a simple script that, when someone clicks on the sign, sends an IM to each person on a list that says "[person who clicked] would like to be added to [the group]".

And if we're lucky it never will be. Makes spamming way too easy and profitable since groups can charge money to join. A lot of people would just hit whatever button is necessary to clear the screen of that annoying blue box.

One could in principle make a libsecondlife powered bot do this. It would have to login with an account that is in the group and has invite powers.

*seconds*

I'm up to a random group invite every day/other day and my alt usually has 3-4 queued up as well by the time I log her on.

I've gotten a few from people here on the forums as well .
