To the person who posted the following message in the Shopping forum (which doesn't allow replies), ETD is closed for a couple of weeks so the owner can update box art in the store, I think. It was on her blog. She'll be back.

ETD has closed a few times.

I don't see why she doesn't keep it open and update on the fly, like most stores -

Just use a "don't mind the mess, we're redecorating" sign.

But its her shop and so she can do what she likes.

It may be a different experience for those who have better machines, but every time I've gone to ETD it's loaded exceedingly slow. Things are busy enough at ETD as it is - I don't think I could change that many vendor graphics in a busy sim and still retain my sanity if i were in a similar situation.

With so many vendors to update and the company being so popular, it's a small wonder that ETD's owner would want to work on this in a quieter, less laggy sim than have to be disturbed for customer service stuff in the midst of it all or have mass hysteria over why some vendors look different from others.

Plus it's not a bad marketing move. A little buildup to a Grand ReOpening Sale.

Actually, when I went shopping, like, an hour before ETD was closed down after the big sale, it wasn't worse than with just a few people around. I could browse alright. Hair Fair was MUCH MUCH worse!

She has 100-150 or so different hair styles out? At 43 prims per hair each.

All the prims need to be removed and rerezzed and repriced since she will packaging her hair differently now (3 colours in 1 pack instead of the 1 colour per pack now, that change is what prompted the sale).

Can't blame anyone for wanting to do that in peace and quiet .

Ill have to go back

Theres others who rebuild their store all the time and forget to leave everything out.

Then there are those who stay open but quietly update.

Any store owner can be whatever they want. I just prefer the third group when I want to buy something, since it will actually be there.

I agree if it were handled differently. If everyone read her blog it would be no problem. But for the average person using Places Search or a landmark, they think they've been banned or the place has shut down. If it were me, I'd set aside a tiny parcel for the sim's teleport hub with a sign explaining that the place was closed for remodeling, then restrict access to the actual store to my group only. That way your customers know you're coming back.

Panache has done something different. They set up a temporary store in the sky, with signs ALL OVER explaining what's going on.

Yes- but there's a big sign for each style, and a little box below that for each color pack. She Lots of colors for each style.

I've heard some store owners are beginning to do design work in their own free private sims on some of the open source grids- no random wanderers, no IMs, no interruptions- and then just import their finished works into SL. You can't export from SL to the open grids or vice versa, but you can plan and design and upload textures for free on the open grids and then efficiently install things on the official grid. We'll see more of this in the future.

that temp shop has been there for months though-anyone know what's going on? I really like Panache hair....

I know HoseQueen has a pretty busy RL. I just hope they're done in time for Valentine's Day. They had the most awesome-est V-day scavenger hunt last year!

Because it's part of the Classifieds forum....you're only supposed to post your ads there, but no one can reply to anything...

thats because the products wanted forums were 99% of the time super lovefests where everyone would gush over everyone elses new stuff.

The other 1% of the time they were mega trolled. Which as a content developer has to hurt.

Glad ETD is still in Biz...dont they have a side shop?..avendia?
...or something?...smaller store in a seperate sim?

Aveda, with only the hairstyles Elika did for the Aveda Institute...but don't ask me which sim!

She's got a little shop in Hairspray, mostly her freebie styles plus a couple others.
